No, I don't believe so. At least not until you've applied a good primer to the sheet metal; otherwise, the rust effects would have nothing to adhere to. If you use a good primer, you'll be able to get a lot more done I'd say the sky's the limit from that point of view.

Even if you only use one or two of these colors, the weathering will look more realistic, and the more you use, the better it will look. It's a set that's well worth the money and gives you a lot of bang for your buck. The only disadvantage is that it does not include chipping medium, which is an important component of the process. If you're a first-time buyer, like me, there's no indication that you'll need to purchase this crucial item separately until you've read the instructions in the box. Speaking of which, the "Scratchmod" instruction sheet, whoever he or she is, does a good job of explaining the process and will have you producing rust effects in no time. However, the instructions were initially unclear, so I turned to YouTube to learn how to use the paints. After that, I was able to use the instruction sheet to remind myself of the order in which the colors should be applied. br>br>However, none of this should deter you from picking up these paints. This is an excellent method for creating realistic rust stains and streaking, as described. I'll get right to the point: you should also purchase Vallejo's 70 597 Drying Retarder. As you stump them with a wet flat brush, the paints will behave more like enamel, allowing you more time to work with them.
This is a great set to use for creating realistic rust and weathering effects. It's simple to use, and if you use your imagination, you can't go wrong. I created convincing weathering on my model kit with little effort by combining the different streaks; I'll post photos soon.
