XF Series of Tamiya Acrylics This is a fantastic paint for any model
5/5

It adheres well to primer and resists scratching well. Straight from the jar, it's usually ready to use for airbrushing. Depending on the finer points of the situation - It's possible that a little water thinning is required. When applying it with a regular brush, be careful not to apply it too thickly because it quickly builds up. As always, a few thin coats are preferable to one thick coat. br>XF stands for "flat" in this case. The paint is extremely flat, making it ideal for use on clothing, landscapes, and other similar projects. By applying the appropriate top coat, it can easily be changed to a high gloss, semi-gloss, or other finish. br>The X series is the gloss version, and I found it to be adequate for a semi-gloss look when painting cars and achieving a true "show-car" look. It is preferable to use a true high gloss top coat for the "room finish. " br>Overall, a fantastic paint job.

It's not as black as Testors flat enamal, but it's a lot flatter
5/5

When lit from the front, this paint has a noticeably duller sheen than Testors flat black enamel model paint, but it's also a little more gray in color. If you just want a dull close-up, this stuff works well. Black is a good color to use, but it doesn't have to be completely black. In some lighting angles, Testors appears blacker, while in others, it has a brighter sheen.

Thinning
5/5

For years, I've been using Tamiya acrylic flat paints on all of my military models with no problems, thinned with isopropyl alcohol to a milky consistency. 70% of the time works the best. Smooth, even coverage, and no sputtering. It dries quickly and completely without leaving any residue behind. It's easy to clean up an airbrush with soap and water or iso.

Tamiya produces excellent models as well as all of the necessary materials such as glue, putty, and paint. Tamiya's acrylic paints are one of my favorites for working on scale plastic models.
