Almost there....
Both Tamiya "PS" paints will be 100% compatible if they are from the Tamiya "PS" series. You'll have to experiment to see if different types of paint or brands are compatible.
It will work if you first seal and prime the wood.

I've painted a lot of RC bodies, and Tamiya paint is the best. When painting lexan, remember that the first couple of coats should be very thin, especially if you're using a metallic color.
I used lame flake as a base for this paint job, and it turned out beautifully. Cleaning and scuffing the inside of the body with a scotch brite pad is highly recommended.
When I raided my husband's model paint stash, I came across this paint. I used it to finish a plastic clock frame and was very pleased with the result. Metallic paints appear to be rich and consistent in appearance. It dries quickly and is long-lasting (unlike other paints, it doesn't scrape or flake off). It's a bit pricey for what you get, but it's well worth the money. I strongly advise using a mask when painting with metallics because the flecks fly everywhere as you work.
I ran out on my third coat, and while some areas of the body may still be translucent, it looks good, which is why I gave it four stars.
I really like the color and am looking forward to using it on my model car.
Tamiya is by far the best. It always covers nicely and sets up quickly without bubbling. I've tried other brands and Tamiya is by far the best.
I used this as a backer over candy green, which looks great, but this purple is stunning, and I almost wish I had painted my truck half-and-half to highlight it.
