POE requires a high-quality cat5e/6 cable with 23 or 24 AWG solid copper wires. Use a high-quality CCA cable rather than a low-cost one. Use burial-rated cable if you intend to bury the cable. Use riser-rated cable if you plan to run it through the attic or through a wall. Use plenum-rated cables if you're working in an air space (like an office building). Use the "flat" cat6/5e/7 cables sold on Amazon only if they are genuine. CCA wires should not be used with the cables.
Yes, and with the H265 stream, it is enabled by default. If necessary, you can change to H264.

Selected User Reviews For Amcrest UltraHD 4K (8MP) Outdoor Bullet POE IP Camera, 3840x2160, 98ft NightVision, 2.8mm Lens, IP67 Weatherproof, MicroSD Recording, White (IP8M-2496EW-V2)
Installation is simple, and the image quality is excellent. Allows for detailed viewing not possible with lower-resolution cameras.
The only way to find out is to wait. It's quite effective. This is a great image. I can't say for sure how long it will last.
It takes 40 feet to reach the street's center. The camera's IR lights are turned off, so the night seen is ambient light. I have a large IR flood light pointing up the street, which is why you can see so far up the street. Overall, the camera has exceeded my expectations. During the day, if the light is just right, I can read the license plate. I hope this has been of assistance.
For whatever reason, I was unable to connect this camera, but customer service was extremely helpful in resolving the issue. Do not waste your time or money on other brands; Amcrest is well worth the investment.
I purchased two of these to replace a pair of Yi wireless cameras that were constantly disconnecting from my network. In order to get a very reliable connection, I replaced the cameras with POE cameras. After two months, I can say that these cameras are completely dependable, produce excellent results, and have remained unaffected by some extremely strong storms. If the software were a little more user-friendly, I would give them 5 stars. 1. br>br> The construction is bulletproof, made entirely of metal and beautifully fabricated. They don't have a 360-degree rotation on the ballpoint mounting, which is surprising. They are only going to adjust up and down. However, the extremely wide angle view compensates for this, and I had no trouble obtaining the desired view coverage. They have remained watertight for two months in the midst of torrential rain and storms. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br This is a fantastic performance. The picture quality isn't quite as good as the Yi cameras I previously owned, but it's very good in HD mode and adequate for reading license plates. The POE technology is 100 percent secure. The cameras are connected as long as the network is up and running. Following a power outage or a router reboot, they automatically reconnect. 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. The level of customer service is outstanding. They are open during regular business hours in Houston, but I believe the actual technicians are in India. They have a lot of patience and are very good at what they do. They were able to fix a problem with one of my cameras that was preventing it from recording to the SID card using remote access, and then helped me choose the best settings for my applications. 4. br>br> Software: The iPhone app makes it very simple to set up the cameras and connect them to your network. However, navigating through the configuration settings is not simple, and there is no guidance on how to choose settings that will prevent false motion detections. However, with some trial and error, the tech support staff may be able to assist. One useful feature is the masking option, which allows you to exclude certain parts of the view from motion detection (for example, plants and bushes). br>br>Overall, these are excellent outdoor cameras that are dependable and produce high-quality results. Although the configuration software is not user-friendly, the technical support department makes up for it.
2496eb Quality and Performance PROS:
1. The HD quality images produced by this camera are as good as, if not better than, those produced by higher-priced cameras on the market,br>2. It has excellent night vision. At night, I can clearly see my white car (as seen on my phone) parked there.
3. It's simple to use their free Amcrest View Pro phone app on my Android phone.
4. I can view the cameras using the Google Chrome web browser on my desktop PC.
5. It comes with everything you need to hang it on the wall, including all of the necessary mounting hardware. Weather seals benefit from accessories as well.
6. The POE connection appears to be working correctly.
7. It works well with my NVR recorder (though it isn't required).
8. This bullet type has a solid, premium feel to it. It's also more compact than some of the other bullet cameras I've seen. CONS: br>br>
1. It appears that setting up motion detection is difficult.
2. The use of a computer requires the installation of a plugin. br>br>I'm an IT professional with a working knowledge of networking who has installed more than 20 IP cameras. Setting up and running this system was not difficult for me. In the case of a typical non-professional, It may take a little longer to get this set up if you are a technical person. Would I buy this camera again? br>br>Would I recommend it to a friend? YES, YES, YES, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
The only problem is that the amcrest 4K model IR night is not as bright as the amcrest 4M model, which is nearly 40 dollars less expensive than the 4K model. So, if you want a higher-quality image at night, this 4K camera with an IR light is your best bet. You may have to pay an extra $20 for an infrared light. The 4M model, which is less expensive and has a much brighter screen at night, is an alternative solution. A circle of red IR light can be seen around the lens in the 4M model, but only two IR lights can be seen below the lens in the 4K model. When compared to other Amazon brand names: br>br> Lorex cameras have a similar shape to Amcrest cameras, but they can only be used with Lorex NVRs. The GeoVision camera was more expensive than the Amcrest camera with the same configuration, but their mounting bracket was ridiculously expensive; a round shape bracket cost me $54, which was ridiculously expensive. br>br>Update: At around 4 p. m. , one of the cameras failed to work. It works again at 00 AM after being reset.
