Sturdy, teen-friendly Proof locks for double knobs are hard to come by, and this one does the job admirably. Simply place a protective pad on the back of the lock to prevent the metal from scratching the cabinet surface. The lock is substantial, and the grip feels secure once it is in place. There is no give to the position it has chosen. My only complaint is that the key occasionally becomes stuck and must be wiggled free. It's not a big deal because it does exactly what it's supposed to do.
It's been a month since I've had this. Every day, I open and close it. (I live alone, so I'm extra cautious, which is why I have locks on all of my bedroom doors)br>br>(I live alone, so I'm extra cautious, which is why I have locks on all of my bedroom doors).
I don't mean that in a good way. The weight of this lock is extremely low. The body is enclosed in a plastic casing, which isn't known to be particularly durable. The shackle is unmistakably aluminum; I'm not sure why I was hoping for an aluminum body with a steel shackle. But that's the way things are. (Edit: The shackle is described as steel on the packaging. It has a very light feel to it. but I'm not here to point out that the packaging is incorrect)br>br>In the end, I imagine that a steel shackle of this length with notches cut into it wouldn't be very durable. A lock that feels fragile, on the other hand, does not inspire confidence. br>br>As others have mentioned, getting the key into the lock when the shackle is in its deeper positions is a bit difficult. I believe it would be easier to use if the neutral lock position was rotated 90 degrees (key perpendicular to shackle rather than parallel). However, I don't believe this style of tumbler could be used in that manner. br>br>In any case, it's perfectly adequate for low-security requirements. Given its shaky durability, it may be a little pricey.
I've been searching for a way to secure my kayak to a public rack for YEARS. Because I don't drive, I needed a way to store my kayak for the entire season at the public launch. I'd seen sit-coms before, but this was the first time I saw one Top kayaks were able to lock through their scupper holes, but my sit-on-top had none large enough. in yak. Because of the length and the ability to fully detach the shackle, I figured I'd give this lock a shot. It turns out that it fits perfectly through the hole in my Pelican kayak's carry handles. I've had it out in a very busy area of a public park for about a week and no one has touched it! The locking and unlocking has gone very smoothly so far. If it becomes rusted or otherwise difficult to use, I will update this post. br>br>I understand that this review may not be of much use to most users of this lock, but I hope it will be useful to someone who has found themselves in a similar situation to mine. br>br>With this chain, I'm using it: 3-in-1 Master Lock 73D Green Sleeved Hardened Steel Chain for Feet.
I bought four of these to use in my classroom to secure my school cabinets. The length of the adjustable shackle is ideal for slipping through the handles of my closet doors. br>Because all locks are keyed differently, I had numbers engraved on the lock and keys to help me remember which one goes with which. For no apparent reason, two of the four keys were extremely difficult to insert. However, it works perfectly!.
Lol. I thought I had sized this correctly because I saw other reviewers using it for the same purpose we would, which was to keep our home's small munching children out of the pantry! Well, it was about two centimeters too wide for our knobs, so you could actually fit the lock over the knobs without unlocking it, but it still APPEARS to be locked, so it's a win-win situation. Regardless, you'll win! As a result, it's clearly doing its job!.
The lock appears to be high-quality and durable. The lock, however, is extremely sticky, as others have stated. It's extremely difficult to insert the key, turn the key, and keep the key turned while pulling the lock off, for whatever reason (manufacturing defect?). The locking bars get in the way of your fingers as you insert the key. I am unable to comment on the lock's security. I wouldn't recommend this lock because it's so difficult to open.
My licor cabinet is now secure from my children's reach. In my kitchen, it's a perfect fit for the space and doesn't look obtrusive.
