Nope. To my surprise, it opened up right away with the proper bypass tool.
2 keys
While I have no idea where it was made, I can confidently state that it is not suitable for outdoor use. The shackle is steel, and the body is aluminum with brass/steel internals. This lock is unprotected from the elements and is not weatherproof.
You can use one key to open multiple locks if you master key them by pinning the lock with master pins.

Padlocks are very specific security devices, and people should be aware of that. For your application, you'll need the appropriate padlock. I'm stating this because it's clear from many of the reviews that many people are unaware of it. br>br>This padlock is a great *medium security* option. It's not designed to keep your expensive bike safe on New York City's streets. It's designed to keep trustworthy people trustworthy. br>br>This lock's body isn't made of solid steel. It will not be able to withstand brute-force attacks. Although the shackle has been hardened, it is not thick enough to withstand large bolt cutters. br>br>Once more. It excels at the MEDIUM SECURITY application lock. br>br>I'm into lock sport (lock picking), and this lock series is an excellent tool for guys looking to improve their lock picking skills. Purchase this lock once you've mastered the use of security pins. You'll quickly be humbled by it. It's very likely that you'll spend weeks trying to open an American 1100 series lock for the first time. Yes, this lock is resistant to picking. For a MEDIUM SECURITY lock, this is an excellent choice. There are a lot of serrated and serrated spool pins in it. br>br>It's a pity that one of the lock's chambers is missing pins. Because American (which is owned by Master Lock) is too cheap to fill all of the chambers with pins, I'm deducting one star from the rating. Adding that last pin would almost certainly raise the Bill of Materials cost by two pennies, but these days they have to squeeze every last penny of profit out of everything. br>br>Once again, a fantastic lock for the job. If you're a lock enthusiast, this is the lock to get. If you can, get a few of them because they're *that* good at teaching picking techniques for the pins in this lock.
This lock was purchased for lockpicking (lockspot) practice; the bitting on the one I received isn't the best, but it does have 5 lightly serrated key pins and 5 serrated drivers. I would purchase this item again. It's simple to disassemble and reassemble. If you have the pins, pinning it is a good idea.
bypass the wafer I thought American Lock had addressed this issue years ago, but it appears that they are still selling locks that lack this critical component. This lock can be unlocked without a key in a matter of seconds using a very simple tool if the wafer is missing. br>br>The anti-bypass wafer cannot be more than one cent in price. Why keep selling locks that are missing the wafer?.
There was no anti-theft feature on the lock I received. The bypass wafer has been installed. If you're unfamiliar with the term "anti-war," it refers to a group of people who oppose war. You should research what a bypass wafer is and how to add one. The wafers are relatively inexpensive and simple to install, but if you don't have one, a simple tool can quickly open the lock. Aside from the lack of a wafer, this is a good lock; the one I got doesn't have the shaky master core, so it's a little more difficult to get into non-locked rooms. in a destructive manner The shackle isn't super thick, and the body is aluminum, so this isn't meant to be a high-security lock, as other reviewers have stated. If I had to choose between this and the brinks laminated lock it replaced, I'd go with this every time because the lock isn't shimmable or easily raked open, so it will have to be destroyed for entry, which will take time and leave evidence. I have this on my backyard gate, but for a shed or other valuable items, I would get something sturdier.
" " For people who want to learn how to pick locks, this is an excellent value. American locks, in particular, are, in my opinion, a lot of fun to pick. I have three of them, and they're definitely con artists, but in a way that you can appreciate the design and craftsmanship. In terms of their intended purpose, they're a more difficult choice than similarly priced master locks, and the overall build quality feels far more refined when compared to others in the same price range. It will certainly keep amateur pickers out, or at the very least keep them in a precarious position long enough for them to be discovered. The locks won't withstand forced entry by someone with the right tools, but they'll keep people honest, and if you're a weirdo like me who buys locks just to pick them, this is a great value.
Anyone purchasing this lock for security should be aware that it ships without bypass prevention wafers, which means that the lock can be silently opened in about 2 seconds with a single $20 tool that requires no skill. If you want this lock to give you any peace of mind, you'll have to add the wafers yourself.
It's pretty good at being a hard to pick lock if that's all you want. If you want a lock that can withstand brute force, such as a hammer or bolt cutters, you should spend a little more money on a stronger lock. If you need a lock that can be changed to a key you already have, you should look around because it appears that they either use a really bad screw or way too much loctite because the screw stripped easily even with a proper seat and the right screw driver. Amazon is replacing it, but that doesn't make it any better because I could end up with another lemon on my hands.
Although this lock is pick and bump resistant, it does not provide protection against physical attacks such as crowbars, hammers, bolt cutters, drills, or hacksaws. I was very dissatisfied with the shackle's poor alignment. The key is difficult to insert and turn. Because of the price, I only give this lock four stars. This lock, in my opinion, is best suited for gym lockers and lock out tag out situations.
