Thieves tried to beat them off the doors, then cut them off--I shipped a container from Ghana, West Africa, to Chad via the seaport of Douala, Cameroon. They were not going to be successful in any way. Although the 1" mild steel flat iron straps that wrapped around the two vertical door rods were cut, the ABUS locks remained closed. That's all there is to say on the subject.

Because the locks on PODs aren't very strong, I bought this for them. This lock is made entirely of stainless steel and appears to be extremely strong and secure. Fits the POD door latch perfectly, and the locking mechanism is very smooth to use, requiring little effort to turn the key. We examined Master and a few other disk locks, but the ABUS lock appears to be of higher quality. On the back, there are three small holes for water drainage and, if necessary, a drop of oil. Also, it is reasonably priced! This book comes highly recommended.

Update: 10/22/16: It's been three years since I first used the lock to secure my storage unit, and it's still working perfectly! Advantages: br>br> br>The weather guard is very useful and can be easily moved out of the way when using the key. br>The disk that surrounds the lock is of excellent quality. Whereas in some cases two discs are welded together, creating a weak point that could be broken, in this case the disc is made up of one piece of metal that has been folded. br>Since being purchased, it has been exposed to some inclement weather in Michigan and shows no signs of wear or corrosion. br>The locking and unlocking of the door is incredibly smooth! br>Overall, a good secure lock at a reasonable price. br>br>Cons nonebr>br>BSR.

We've had these locks for a few months now, and they've performed admirably! We've had a few nice storms, but no snow. They've stood the test of time and are still simple to use. We've had some bitterly cold weather with no problems. So far, everything has gone well! There is no rust on the lock, and I like how there isn't enough room on the lock for a tool to get a hold of it and cut it.

You might think there are two locks, keyed alike, based on the appearance of this item; however, I only received one lock at the posted price, and the item's description is misleading. If you want two locks that are keyed alike, expect to pay more than $50 instead of the listed $27.

Security companies recommend this type of lock because it is more difficult to cut, which makes it more appealing to thieves looking for a way to get away. It's tough, but with the included key, it's simple to operate. Just make sure your latch isn't too small or in a tight space, or the lock's girth won't fit.

These have a powerful, hefty feel to them. I needed locks for shipping containers that were of high quality. For the value of everything in the containers, I think this is a small price to pay for a little extra security.
