Questions & Answers

How many pound-feet is this? tia. ?

152ft- According to Dewalt's website, the torque is lbs, which is enough to injure your wrist if you aren't prepared. It's a fantastic piece of software.

What makes this different from the 885b non-xr?

In addition, the 887 is far more powerful. This one has 1800 inch lbs of torque, which is more powerful than any other brand's impact driver (except the Kobalt 24v, which is much lighter).br>br>What this means is that it will drive a large lag bolt faster and smoother than other brands, which will struggle to do the same job.br>br>Don't even consider the brushed version. Brushless motors are more powerful, consume less energy, and are produced in the United States. They are only slightly more expensive, so getting the 885 isn't really a benefit.

Is it possible to use a dcb205 battery with this driver?

Yes, any 20v battery will work, whether it's a 1 or a 2. 5, 2. 0, 3. 0, 4. 0 or 5. The battery with a capacity of 0 ah is functional.

What kind of adaptor do I need to use this impact driver with a socket?

1/4" hex to socket adapters for 1/4,3/8,1/2" sockets are available for purchase on this page. This isn't an impact wrench, though; it's an impact driver. So you should be able to use this for basic socket tasks with no problems, but you shouldn't try to change a tire with it.

I'm unable to cope with difficult tasks
3/5

I bought this impact driver less than two years ago, and it is clearly incapable of handling the daily workload that I require. I am a builder who uses his impact driver on a daily basis, and this tool does not meet my requirements. All of my Dewalt cordless tools (hammer drill, 6, etc. ) are Dewalt. I have a 5" circular saw, a grinder, a multi-tool, and a sawsall, and they all work great, but the impact driver has had trigger issues right away, as well as quick bit change issues, and most importantly, driving issues, so I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TOOL to any hardworking builder or professional who relies on it to get their job done.

I really like Dewalt's entire 20-volt brushless tool line
5/5

I really like Dewalt's entire 20-volt brushless tool line. I've got an impact, a drill, and an oscillating multi-tool. In the 20v/Brushless product line, there is a Tool Kit. Many of the 18-volt tools are also in my collection. I never realized how much of an impact drill vs. a regular drill I needed until I used one. This drill effortlessly drives in screws that would otherwise twist off or be difficult to drive with a traditional drill. As an impact wrench for driving large lags into hardwood, it works amazingly well. Only after you've used one will you realize how important it is. br>br>I bought a few as "bear" tools (batteries not included). Their batteries are exorbitantly priced, so I looked into 3rd-party alternatives. I plan to buy some in the future, but for now I'm happy with a few 5Ahr and 3Ahr batteries I got for Christmas. br>br>It's a joy to work with these tools. I'm not sure what kind of subtle charms a tool should have, but whatever it is, these give it the right "vibe. " br>br>I'm a little disappointed with Dewalt's marketing of the newer 20 volt as "More Powerful," as the newer may be more powerful due to the brushless design. However, a quick search on Google reveals that both the old and new are 20 volts. Dewalt appears to have marketed the newer systems as a reason to upgrade from your inferior older "18 v" tools, based on what I've read in the articles. It's worth a look.

What can I say, I'm enamored with it
5/5

Update: I'm not as in love as I used to be, but it could just be a bad one. Update I used it to put up a metal twin loft bed one first and every time I went to screw in the screw halfway through it would shoot off like it was going into protection like if I was screwing 6" bolts or something like I was forcing it to screw a massive screw not sure if that's normal or if I got a defected one it worked great for the first 3 or 4 but then I noticed it wasn't performing the same and it started to shut off so now I'm disappointed I br>br>I used it today for a small job, and I like it a lot better than a drill. This little thing will be used a lot more than the drill, and I can't wait to use it again. One thing I don't like about it is the wobble of the chuck/hex chuck, which makes it difficult to drill a screw, but that won't stop me from using it; it's a minor flaw I can live with and won't take away from it because of it.

This is fantastic
5/5

I used a low-cost 12v impact driver and was pleasantly surprised at how well it performed on screws. Because I'd grown accustomed to using a drill, I'd always blown off these impacts. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no br>br>I can drive a 4 inch screw straight into pressure treated lumber without needing to drill pilot holes or strip the screw heads. I was under the impression that this tool was only used to impact nuts and bolts with a 1/4in impact gun. I had no idea how simple it is to get screwa in and out with this impact. I even didn't bother stripping old rusted screws from the wood I was replacing. I would have stripped out maybe 20 of them if I had used a driver and probably gone through several bit tips had I used a driver. I did about 3 hours of work with the same tip and it still looked brand new. br>br>I adore this effect and can't believe I wasn't brave enough to try it years ago. Now I'm only going to use my drill for drilling. I'm not going to even attempt it. I'm not sure how I went so long without knowing about this thing's advantages. I'm excited to try it out because I'm still amazed at how easily the screws go in. I didn't get the memo about impact drivers for some reason.

Beware! I've had Dewalt tools for a long time and was looking to replace my 18v impact driver
3/5

That was a huge blunder. The DCF887B isn't up to par! When you're screwing, it turns off! Driving basic 3 inch screws, it gets about halfway in before shutting off; I have to release the trigger and restart; I'll go a few more turns and the same thing happens! When using basic 2 by lumber to drive screws, this is what happens. I'm going to use the other 20v Dewalt impact model this time. There is no safety shutoff on it!.

Nuts and bolts are easily moved, but wood fasteners are not as easily moved
4/5

The first option is completely useless. It barely has enough torque to drive a 2" 8 screw into cedar and will frequently bog down before triggering the impact clutch on its own. The torque on settings 2 and 3 is insane, but they're also impossible to control precisely. You can't expect to be able to control the depth of screws driven into wood. Screws aren't nearly as useful as nuts and bolts when it comes to manipulating them. Setting 1 should be between 1 and 2, and the impact clutch torque should be adjustable.
