Before you cut, make sure your drill is the right size. A thinset mortar was used to quickly and easily drill through slate on cement backer board. At that price, it was a no-brainer for me to purchase it. It's a very sturdy diamond hole saw and will last for a long time. I only needed it for one hole (a shower valve retrofit) but it was worth it. To guide your decisions, you might want to use a template. My traditional hole saw was used to cut a 5" hole in a piece of 1/8th inch plywood for guidance, and this hole was used as a guide for It is also possible to use a circular cutout plug in the same way. You can actually screw it directly to the material, so it's a little simpler in some ways. A hole in the screw and its screw will be removed when you cut it out. The following warning should be heeded Before you use it, make sure it has the right diameter! I got my first saw that was 5 1/8th inches long in a 5 inch box. Due to the fact that it did not fit my 5" template, my life was saved. My first order was oversized and I returned it. After ordering my second from Amazon, the size was correct.
This took a few hours of work each day, but the results were astounding. During the installation of a vessel sink, a 5 inch drilled hole was needed. The final top is granite or quartz, and I tried using another hole saw and jigsaw but none of them touched it. In my second attempt, I used the other whole saw for ceramic and wood, using it first to guide up through the bottom so the sink pipe would have more support to center. I would do it in reverse next time so the sink pipe would have This was the last thing I added.
As a matter of fact, this drill bit does not use an arbor and works so well. As a result of tiling a tub and wanting to change a shower valve in an existing bathroom, I bought this. It was necessary to enlarge the existing tile opening to accommodate the new valve with this drill bit. I did not have a problem with it. It gets 5 stars from me.
The unit could be more stable if it came with a jig. In order to create the jig I used foam board of one inch but plastic is better and lasts longer.
That was a really good bit. There were four tiles with holes at the corners of which I cut four holes. In order to create the template, I used Schluter Kerdi board. The cut was straight and clean. FYI, this would be a good/perfect fit for the Hansgrohe I Box.
In order to install the control valve, I had to drill a hole in my shower tile. Let the hole dry for a while, it came out perfectly.
I was able to drill through porcelain tile that none of my drill bits could reach!.
I used it to cut a hole in ceramic tile. It worked well.
