Earlier this week, I received the hole saw kit which I needed in a couple of different sizes for some remodeling projects. The second time I tried to use the hole saw, I saw that some of the teeth were already broken. As far as I know, I have only cut through 14 and 12 inch plywood with the bits. I'm dissatisfied with my 40 dollars spent and teeth that are already falling out.
My main reason for returning this item is because I do not like the way it sits on the center drill bit. Each hole saw is attached to the center drill bit by a nut inside. If you would like to remove a size of the hole saw and replace it with another size, you will need a 3/4" deep hole saw Using a socket and ratchet is a good idea. I can't imagine having to carry a ratchet and socket around for the sole purpose of removing the hole saw from the center bit, so they must have not thought through this carefully. I think it is a total waste of time and money.
It's already known to you (but you already knew it). This is a great book This is a metal saw set and not contractor-grade. It makes holes in all sorts of things and does a good job. (But you already knew that)
Nothing to complain about for me. *The first drill included in the kit was bent, so the hole was a little out-of-round There was too much substance in it and it was rounder Also tested and removed the other two provided drills and found them straight and well constructed. It would be nice if other reviewers stopped complaining about the small things, since drills are cheap and make the whole thing work awesome, even if they weren't. As a rule, hole saws themselves make deep, true holes, but the way in which they attach to the bit causes them to wobble a little, so the hole won't be perfectly round and level. Therefore, you pay for what you get. Yet, they work great for me and are just what I need!.
Although I had never heard of the company before I purchased these holesaws, for the price I thought I would give them a chance. There was no doubt that these saws would cut through wood very easily, they are extremely sharp. Even my toolbox's back was cut without dulling the blade when I used the saws to drill through the steel. I had no idea if the saws were designed for metal, but I did use them to drill through it. Unless I wear these into the ground or break them, I will buy more if I manage to dull or break them.
Now that I've used the whole saw, I can say that I like it. I'm impressed by the quality of the material. There has been one problem that has arisen here. I can see this enduring for a long time. There is a problem with the latch on one side. The plastic clip won't stay on and often falls off. The quality of the book is very good apart from that.
Compared to other comprehensive sets of bimetal saws, this is a good value. It is the only one I have used So far, I have only observed a slight issue with the saws wandering. This may just be an issue of it being an 8" size. Basically, I cut 29 ga sheet metal backed by 1/2" OSB, and hopefully the OSB was soft enough that the pilot drill could wander around, but I suspect that the cutting edge of the saw is not in exact alignment with the arbor thread, which means the pilot drill wanders around. In any case, the holes were a tad too large whether or not there was a root cause.
Unlike most hole saw kits, this one contains an adapter, which allows the larger hole saws to be used with the smaller drill shaft and fit into It is a pity that with the adapter, the saw will not go all the way through a 2x4 because the nut will prevent the saw from going all the way through. Switch to one of the smaller sawing machines and drill out the center to overcome this problem. There seem to be no problems with the saw teeth. It is definitely worth a second purchase.
