Questions & Answers

Is this something that will work on the MT-X? Werner (age 22) 300 ft Aluminum ft Aluminum ft Aluminum ft Aluminium f Telescoping Type IA Multi-Purpose (lb) What is a Position Ladder? Thank you very much! ?

It will, in fact. I had the same question, so I bought it to find out, and I tried it out this morning after putting it together over the weekend. It makes a big difference when cleaning gutters or getting to the roof, but it's too narrow to span windows. Since then, the MT- The fit isn't exactly snug on the rungs, but in use the stabilizer holds firm, and you have two safety bolts to keep it on the step just in case. The 22 has a wider span at the top, so the width issue of the spacing horizontally is less of an issue, and the vertical spacing is standard.

Is it simple to take apart and reassemble? I don't always use a standoff stabilizer with my ladder. ?

Removing and reinstalling is a breeze! I own a rain gutter company, and roofers and customers always comment on how quickly they install compared to what they're used to. Today, I put it to use!

Ladder Max has been photographed on the top rung of an extension ladder on several occasions. Is the manufacturer's advice to do so?

"Step 11 for SAFETY WHEN USING: Ladder Max should never be attached to the top rung of a ladder. When positioning Ladder-It, always expose THREE ladder rungs above the roof's edge. Maximum unit on a roof, to make mounting and dismounting the roof as simple as possible.

Will this work on a low-slope roof with gutters? slope?

It will work fine if your roof has any slope, but it will not work on a flat roof, according to my husband. The ladder may need to be leaned into the house from a distance away on the ground.

A well-made product with a potentially fatal flaw
3/5

I really liked this stabilizer when I first got it. I liked how big the feet were, how sturdy they were, and how simple it was to put them together. I felt much more confident cleaning my upper floor gutters, which are 30 feet up, than I did when I used to approach them with trepidation. br>br>The weight and balance were the only major issues. On my 30 foot extension ladder, the weight of this stabilizer can make it difficult to move and position the entire ladder. A long ladder can be leveraged by any stabalizer, but this one is especially heavy and lopsided. It's not a deal breaker, but it's something to think about before you buy. The stabalizer, however, revealed a potentially fatal flaw after a few uses. The pins that hold the stabilizer in place and prevent it from sliding up and off the rungs started falling out! I double-checked the instructions to make sure I was putting them in the correct holes and in the correct order. With a pair of pliers, I attempted to tighten the loop. They continue to fall out, however. From the full height of the ladder, one struck me in the head. br>br>The last time I used this stabilizer, and it will be the last time I ever use it, I lowered the ladder to find both pins had vanished! Tension was the only thing that kept the stabalizer in place. This item has a high risk of failure. You should wait until the company changes the locking mechanism before purchasing it.

It's nice, but it's a pain to work with
4/5

It's simple to put together and install, but the assembly instructions could be more detailed. However, because it throws the ladder's balance off, it's much more difficult to set up and move once it's in place. Also, the top couple rungs must be extended for it to attach, and with the product installed on my Werner 28' fiberglass extension ladder, those rungs would not be able to slide back down. So, before you even start lifting and extending your ladder, it basically adds more square footage to it. br>br>It's also difficult to make minor adjustments once you've set up the ladder and the product on the roof. Part of the issue is that the product's rubber feet grip the roof so well that the ladder refuses to move from side to side, and if you try to slide the ladder in or out to adjust the angle, the feet will actually hold the extension up and prevent it from locking without standing the ladder straight up again. br>br>I also had trouble getting the ladder to line up perfectly straight, as if it wasn't square. To be fair, I did not measure the product for squareness after assembly, as the instructions suggested. br>br>I discovered that setting up the ladder with just one person while this product was attached was nearly impossible. The ladder, on the other hand, feels extremely stable when in use, which is exactly what it is designed for. It's also great for cleaning gutters because it allows you to get right into them. I believe that as I become more accustomed to using the ladder with the product installed, the difficulties in use will fade away. My only other criticism is that, for what it is, it is quite pricey.

With one caveat, this is a great product that works on small giant ladders

Ladder- Stabilizer for maximum stand-off distance
4/5

+1 - br> 1 - Arrived on time and in good condition. br> br> 2 - Item is exactly as described The item performs as expected and is extremely well constructed. br>- br>br>Thoughtsbr>br>Costbr>br> It's expensive for what it is, and it took some time to put together, so don't expect to open the box and put it on your ladder right away. It'll take about ten minutes. It will take you about 20 minutes to put this together, depending on your skill level. It's not difficult to put on and take off the ladder. Please keep in mind that this increases the weight of your ladder slightly. I was used to maneuvering and positioning my 24-foot ladder by myself. I'll need a second person to keep an eye on the ladder while I hold it and extend it with this on. The removal of the house became a two-person task as well - to make certain that there were no mishaps I could easily slide it side to side once it was up on the house, but it requires a second person to put up and take down. I'm also not 6' 250 pounds, so you might be able to handle it better on your own if you're a larger person. Nothing more than food for thought here. Overall, it does exactly what I needed it to do, which was to keep my new gutters from sitting on them, and the rubber feet protect my shingles and siding - I can put it wherever I want. Apart from the cost, which could be lower for what it is, I am extremely satisfied.
