Questions & Answers

Would a xtend climb telescoping ladder work for this?

It isn't very effective on its own. We have, however, used straps that are connected to a latch. We wrap the ladder in the strap, then latch the ladder lock with the latch. Although not ideal, it is fairly secure.

Do you secure them to the ladder before climbing, or do you carry them up to the gutter and secure them there?

The clamp is firmly attached to the gutter. So you'll have to carry them up, then attach the clamp to the gutter and use the hook on the ladder once you're on top of the roof.

Is one ladder enough to keep it stable, or do you require two?

I'm able to ride a bike with two hands, one hand, or none at all. It is safer for me to use two hands. These aren't used to keep the ladder stable. It's for this reason that the ground and gravity exist. If my center of gravity is off while climbing on or off a roof, I use it to keep the ladder from shifting dramatically in an instant. And, more importantly, to prevent my ladder from blowing away or collapsing while I'm on a roof.

Is it possible to use it on a rounded-edged ladder?

All ladders are compatible with this device. The gutter is gripped by the "claw." The "hook" is attached to the step or rung. Always make sure the ladder is long enough to reach at least one step beyond the gutter. You may proceed up the ladder once it has been secured on a firm foundation. Place the hook around the step that is parallel to the gutter when putting the Ladder Lock on. The Ladder Lock should then be secured to the gutter using the clamp. Then continue climbing the ladder until you are able to safely step onto the roof.

Quite an odd device - I can't use it because it's unusable for me
3/5

Almost a year ago, I purchased this item. I think I tried to use it two or three times in the field about a year and a half ago. Even after watching the video multiple times, I couldn't figure out how it worked when I first got it. Finally, I had to seek assistance from the manufacturer. Whatever they told me has vanished, and I'm once again stumped as to how this thing attaches to my ladder without the adjusting wing-nut. nut facing inwards against the ladder, which is a purely knuckle-strengthening device It was a harrowing ordeal, and certainly not in the way it was intended. It's just sitting in the back of my truck, unused. I'm going to throw it away because it's not worth the space it takes up.

This is the only tool I use when I go up on a roof
5/5

The Ladder Lock is the product I would recommend to anyone who uses a ladder on a regular basis (as I do in my line of work). It's a simple design, but it gives you so much peace of mind when you use it correctly. This tool is always with me when I go up on a roof. Safety is always a priority, regardless of whether the roof eave is 8' or 18'. This tool *will* make the climb safer, and for under $40, I think it's a bargain. What is the cost of your safety?.

It is preferable to have one than not to have one
4/5

I felt very safe the first time I used it. There might be a little bit of fun, but not much. It will keep your ladder in place with ease. There will be no more climbing up and down a moving ladder to get off the roof. Another thing that gives me peace of mind is knowing that if it's windy, my ladder won't be blown across the back yard or front yard, smashing into neighbor's windows, cars, or people. I also bought a Lock Jaw ladder grip, so I'll be using both of them.

Most drip edges are difficult to reach
3/5

The design is good. The wing nut that holds it in place is the source of my issue. I can't get it tight enough to hold my ladder securely, and every time I try, I have to loosen it with pliers. It's also difficult to get under the majority of drip edges. It's almost exclusively for gutters.

It significantly reduces the risk of a high-altitude climb
5/5

This ladder lock made climbing to the top of my 18-foot-high roof a lot safer. I can't believe it's been so long since I've had one of these!.

A smidgeon of tranquility
4/5

As a home inspector, I have access to a lot of roofs. This device will not prevent your ladder from going over backwards, but it will keep it from sliding as you climb on or off the roof. The small rubber pads, on the other hand, do not remain in place.

It does the job and keeps me safe at work
4/5

Because it prevents ladder slides, this product has made my job a lot safer. br>br>Issues: The rubber grips are wearing out after moderate use, which isn't supposed to happen. To keep the parts from detaching, the device's configuration could be improved. The ladder rail hook is a little small for my ladder, which has slightly wider legs, but it should fit most extension ladders just fine.
