This is the installation
4/5

I hate it! However, I can say that I hope the product will work as it is intended for, but I can also say that the installation on an already installed garage door was anything but simple, and no, we are not amateurs at It is absolutely crucial that the track lines up Even though it might seem obvious at first, it's not always this easy. It was easy to line up two of them, but two were difficult to line up. If they don't line up perfectly, the rubber part will snag and won't It is impossible to install the rubber seal inside the aluminum track due to the roller track on the garage door. Eventually, we had to remove one 3' length of the track and feed it in from there, as it was impossible with the rubber part and dealing with the door track and the rubber stuff was getting damaged. The rail was fed through, the one track that we removed was reattached, and then the rail was installed back into the controller Through the last 3' of rubber part, the rubber part comes back out through the last Here is a picture of it as it was being remolded A shelf in the garage was high enough for fed and me to sit on. In order to gain access to the track, we unhooked the garage door opener, raised the door, and secured it in place with a steel clamp so it wouldn't fall. Then, we fed the door through the track that we As a result of the track being sharp, we tore the part of the rubber that runs in it twice. There was a lot of torn rubber, which made it difficult to pull up the rubber. There have been tear and snag spots, as well as rough edges in the track, so I taped them with Scotch tape. It will be necessary to readjust the garage door since the new seal will add some length to the door and it will lower too far. In addition to caulking the door and the track, we also caulked the threshold. I used soapy water to spray the rubber part of the seal, which made the installation process easier.
I am sure the seal will prevent water from running into the garage, and it will also prevent drafts from entering. As glad as I am that we chose this, as it seems to be the best for what we need, but the installation was a real pain!.

If you can be patient and modify the seal kit, it is a great kit
5/5

the rubber seal needs to have four beveled edges so that it can slide into the T-shape, so if you can spend some time beveling the aluminum extrusions, you should be able to install this kit The tracks intersect at every junction, and they move further across. Many folks lubricate seals before running through extrusions with warm soapy water, but I found that after using a small wire wheel on my Dremel tool to get rid of the extremely sharp edges of each end, the rubber seals would slide into place without difficulty. Using my son to pull helped me form and insert the tube on one end, but I didn't need any lube of any kind to get it into place. Actually, if you were to use baby powder and talac after you had removed the razor sharp ends it would probably just slide right across without any extra tugging from you. Another critical thing is that there needs to be some space on one side or the other to wrestle with the seal, line it up, and push it into the T-shape. In order to keep the bottom section of panels fully hung, I removed the lower corner brackets from the door with it half-opened and let the bottom section of panels hang freely without having to deal with extra seals while trying to drag that thing over a 16' I recommend you secure the coil tension spring before removing the corner brackets, or else you may be in for a surprise when it goes off like a giant rat trap and birds nests the cable at each end of the bar where the.

That's pretty good, but will have to be done by two people AND will require A 16 foot steel door was the reason I bought this
4/5

Other contributors noted that you should use duct tape to fix the metal sections to the base of your door. When I put the metal pieces together, I was pleasantly surprised they measured over 16 feet long. Be sure to keep a hack saw at the ready in case you need to cut off a foot or so of metal. Before installing the screws, drill small holes in the garage door base, through the holes cut in each section. This will ensure that no issues will arise during installation. It is NOT wise to use a drill bit that is the same size as the hole in the metal sections, as it is only slightly The drill bit I used was just a bit smaller than the screw's width, so it fitted into each screw perfectly. It didn't matter what type of drill I used, because all my screws went in just fine using a hammer drill. Just tighten the screws very gently until they're seated before tightening them further. In addition, you will almost certainly need two people to install the rubber seal. Actually, not the entire rubber seal, but rather the last three or four feet. I sent the rubber part all the way through and let the excess flow out on the other side after I had screwed all but the last panel. Spraying some WD40 along the rail tracks before the rubber is fed will make a huge In the end, I had to grab my wife to help me pull the last part back onto the track after I screwed on the last base. This is the only "two-person" part. One of the rubber rails kept coming off the track for some reason. The final product is great. I was able to put it together. It gets four stars out of five. Because the metal panels were not 16 feet long as advertised, one star was taken off.

The tracks are nearly impossible to install, but once you have them in place, they work nicely
3/5

Upon seeing it in writing and through images, it seemed like an interesting Place the rubber in the aluminum track by sliding it into the groove. Nothing to worry about. The opposite is true! Despite making good progress, I only managed to slide about 24 inches of the rubber onto the track before friction stopped me. By this time, I knew I was in a bind, because there was no way I could get it to slide across an eight foot track (this was just 16 or 18 foot doors sound like a hassle to me. My first step was to remove the aluminum track from the wall and spray everything down with It took me FOREVER to slide each section of the track (yes, one at a time) onto the rubber seal, although it helped a little. Having no tracks on the door meant that I had to drill access holes in the seal to install the tracks As a result, I installed seals on two garage doors and they have worked beautifully. It seems simple, but you may need to modify some of these components and do some work to get the rubber in place. It is really a shame, as the rubber seemed high quality, pliable, and of a heavy duty construction.
