Questions & Answers

Make use of number five. Whynter, if you're nine inches tall?

Yes. They are one and the same.

Is this going to work for a 5? 75" duct?

The dimensions of this fitting's neck are as follows: 6 1/8" in diameter on the outside The inside diameter between the threads is approximately 5 1/2". Without the threads, the inside diameter is 6 1/8" I hope this has been of assistance.

Could you put two of these in the wall of an attic and hose the water out to the soffit? What is the method for securing it inside or against the wall?

Not sure, but this can be screwed to the wallbr>I would strongly suggest you turn on the flexible hose approximately where it would attach with the hose length you need to get to the soffit on the other sidebr>As for a soffit, you could purchase a spring loaded duct to hide in the soffitbr>That way it's closed to pests.

Could you suggest a suitable hose?

Make sure you get the right size hose; they come in three sizes, one of which is the 6-inch size. when I'm thinking

It appears to be a good idea, but it isn't working
3/5

I experimented with three different 5. I tried 9" hoses to see if they would fit, but none of them did. The hose never gets past the rim due to the thread being too tight and coarse. br>br>You have the ability to pull (read: If you try to force) the hose in from the other side, you'll almost certainly damage it and won't be able to get it back in once the connector is installed. br>br>Even the plug they make for it doesn't last more than a single rotation. I tried squirting silicone lube around the threads, but it didn't work. br>br>After posting a question here, I was directed to contact customer service. I've been emailing them for over a month and no one has even acknowledged my problem. br>br>In the end, I threw out the whole thing (along with the extra hoses I bought trying to make it work) and built my own blast gate. At all costs, stay away from this product.

What a great product! I work as a contractor, and one of my customers purchased a portable air conditioner for me to install
4/5

In the customer's room, there were casement windows, and the options for exhausting through them were either flimsy or unsightly. By allowing for venting through the wall, this solves the problem. This product, along with the plug (for when it's not in use) and a 6" dryer vent, makes for a practical and attractive solution. My only complaint is that the interior flange could have been a little wider, and the area where it connects to the vent hood pipe could have been a little wider to allow for duct tape before hitting the internal threads. For a complete installation package, sell it as a kit with plug and vent hood.

So far
5/5

So good! For nearly a year, I debated whether or not to buy the Intulon portable flexible AC hose flush mount fitting. To see if this would work for my application, I looked at the customer reviews and pictures. The early reviews from 2019 were less positive than those from the previous year, making it a risk. br> My concept/application was as follows: br> Install a LG Portable AC with a dedicated circuit in a 2017 RV toy hauler garage so we could have a cool room when boondocking, running on a Honda 2000W inverter generator with a 3 gallon marine extended use fuel container to run either all night or when leaving the dog in the kennel in the back room. br> I attempted to use the 3" dryer vent because it was in the location where we preferred to keep the unit, but the reduction from 6" to 3" caused too much heat and back pressure, causing the hose to blow off the reduction fitting. We attempted to make a fitting to vent out of the garage's pre-installed air vents located fore and aft, but this required the AC unit to be placed in an unfavorable location when in use. br> For the time being, the plan is to cut a 6" hole through the garage floor in an area under a factory-installed cabinet, use the flush wall/floor mount fitting, and close it off with the 6" plug when not in use. br> So far, I've only received the wall/floor mount, which works perfectly with the hose! We'll test how well the plug seals in the fixed mount fitting when it arrives today. It does not screw in well, according to some reviews, and is either too tight or too loose. I'll add a comment and photos once it's installed (2 WEEKS)br> So Far . So Good !.

It was a lifesaver
5/5

This device is a lifesaver, albeit at an exorbitant price. But, hey, if you're in need, you're in need. I have an extra bedroom that has no windows and no central heating or cooling. Because I didn't want to drill through my house's walls or siding in any way, and because I already had a portable unit that wasn't being used, the only option was to feed an exhaust hose through the floor. I needed a flange, and this was it. The inside diameter of the hose on my Koldfront portable unit is 5 inches, and it fits perfectly. I was screwing and screwing and getting nowhere until I realized I needed to pop off the hose's outer ring. It's possible that yours has one, but it's also possible that it doesn't. It's possible that this is why some people claim it doesn't fit. The flange will not screw on unless it is removed. Make sure this is correct, as well as that you are not twisting in the wrong direction. Unless you have something unusual or brand new, most portable air conditioners have a standard hose size; however, measure first to be sure. Let me tell you, I know you don't like the idea of drilling into your floor or walls, but it's a lot more durable and secure than having it in the window. The window installation kits that come with portable units are extremely flimsy and aren't worth the effort. If you know you'll be using your portable air conditioner in a semi-permanent location, Instead, use this method to install the item in a permanent manner. I like that they have a cap for it in case I need to relocate the unit. Although I have window units in other rooms, the beauty of portable units is that they are PORTABLE and can quickly replace a broken window unit in another room until it can be replaced. I intend to buy the cap, but it's a bit pricey! As a result, it's possible that I won't make that purchase until I'm in desperate need of it. br>br>Overall, I'm very pleased with this product because it has provided me with fresh air in a previously suffocating environment. BUY IT if you're in a situation like mine.

It works, but it's a little difficult to set up
5/5

This, along with the plug (which is required if you don't use it 12-), makes for a powerful combination. The design (mos per year) is good, but connecting it to the vent cap on the outside of the wall is difficult. I ended up cutting about an 8-inch piece of the AC exhaust hose off, duct taping it to the wall port, shoveling it through the hole, then going outside, duct taping it to my 6inch diameter vent cap (which I discovered was not a commonly stocked size and had to order) and attaching the exterior cap to the wall, then collapsing the hose into the wall and attaching the inside port. It would be nice if they sold this as a complete kit with an Also, for two pieces of plastic, the price (over $50 for the wall portal and screw cap) seems a bit high. When I put the air conditioner away for the season in the winter, I plan to stuff a wad of fiberglass insulation batting into the wall port to reduce heat loss. Check to see if your exterior wall vent cap has a damper to reduce back drafts and screening to keep critters out. A standard dryer vent cap, which is typically 4 inches in diameter, will not work.
