The handle adjusts from 26 to 32 inches in length, according to the description. I had assumed that the handle would store behind the spade to give the 14" length, but this is not the case. Instead, when the handle is fully deployed, the OAL is 32", and when it is collapsed, it is 26". br>br>The following should be included in the description: "The shovel is 26" long when fully collapsed and 32" long when fully extended.
It was a fantastic deal. It was put to a lot of work out west, chipping ice and getting a sled out of 7 feet of snow, and it never broke.
This is a really well-made little shovel; it's very sturdy and should last much longer than the supermarket shovel I bought, which broke the first time I used it.
If necessary, it can be broken down into two smaller pieces, making it ideal for transporting in a truck or car. So far, it's been very durable.
Excellent for vehicles or as a winter hiking shovel in the event of an emergency.
Packs well. This is the perfect size for the job. The product appears to be of high quality. Hopefully, we won't have to learn anything.
It keeps us warm throughout the night.
We had some unexpected snow before Thanksgiving, so I was able to look over this right away when I got it. Although you wouldn't want to use something as small as a regular shovel to clear snow from in front of the garage door where the plow doesn't reach, it worked just fine. With the exception of the ABS plastic handle, it's made of aluminum and feels light but solid. Having a shovel in the car is useful if you have to park your car outside while at work or away from home. We always forget because the one we've been using is so large that we take it out in the off-season. season. We forget to put it back in for the winter, of course. This shovel breaks down into three pieces, taking up so little space in the car that I doubt we'll miss it once winter is over. br>br>Removing the shovel from the shaft was one issue I encountered. Snap buttons are used to break this down, as you can see in the product image. It's no problem separating (or connecting) the two parts of the shaft, but pressing in the buttons where the shovel connects to the shaft is nearly impossible for me. Maybe it will get easier with time, but after requiring assistance to disassemble it, I just want to put it back together and forget about it. The shovel is only 33 inches long when fully assembled and extended, so it's not a big deal to do so, or simply separate the two parts of the shaft if you want it a little shorter.
