The Ortovox Kodiak first caught my eye while watching a video about avalanche preparedness. I primarily snowboarded on the East Coast in areas where an avalanche was unlikely, but I appreciated the versatility. I spend a lot of time in the winter, whether it's snowboarding, winter camping, or other activities. br>I've used Kodiak to clear a footprint for my tent, clear my steps of snow, assist others in getting out of parking lots at the local ski resort, and help people get out of snowy situations on the side of the road. br>I like how quickly and easily it assembles and disassembles, and how easily I can store it in the back of my truck. br>I store the two pieces, as well as my jumper cables, battery booster, snatch block, and extra D-cell batteries, in a milk crate. I adore it. br>It's full of rings and the like.

Excellent chops- Snow-clearing efficiency with and-drag! It's also useful for scooping and lifting snow without having to bend down too far. In addition, carrying blocks with ease, stability, and style. br>br>The D handle has a mitten-like grip. In hoe mode, it's also user-friendly and allows for easy swinging. The mid- For two-handed use, the shaft rubber is grippy and insulating. br>br>On rare occasions, snow becomes lodged in the blade's socket to the point where the shaft will not lock into place after switching modes. It's easy to clear with a chopstick, pole tip, pen, or other object, and it doesn't happen very often, thankfully. br>br>Because the Kodiak is so much more functional and durable than cheap aluminum shovels, I'm willing to carry the few extra grams for the peace of mind that it won't break, as well as the sheer pleasure of using it.
