5 inches in length The Aero Pads come in a set of 26. 5 inches in length The padding is covered by a 30 inch piece of material. For my canoe, I'll need 28 inches. I was under the impression that I would have some extra length, but I am actually short. My initial visual assessment was extremely favorable.
My new car was too tall to fit my kayak in dedicated cradles to fit through my garage door. Instead, I bought these rack pads to save some space. I was dissatisfied with the amount of time my v- At first, the flat pads caused my hull kayak to rock side to side. br>Sticking wide rubber door stops under all four ends created a nice cradle shape to hug my kayak. Because the velcro fasteners on these well-made pads are divided into several sections, it was simple to conform them around the stops. Aerobars are included as well. br>It's also more aerodynamic than using dedicated kayak cradles with this setup.
As a result of the truck's high ride height, it is equipped with road tires. I wanted to be able to lay my kayak flat on top of it when loading it. The solution was these crossbar pads. It's simple to turn on and off, and it'll keep you safe! I can easily slide the kayak across the pads, secure it, and get going! I didn't want to have to deal with J hooks or anything else that would make getting my high-resolution photos difficult. In the garage, there is a profile truck! These are fantastic and come highly recommended from me!.
Traditional kayak holders are ineffective with my wide fishing kayak. To secure my kayak, I removed the saddle holders from my kayak trailer and secured them to the trailer bar. Everything went smoothly. Holds the boat in place and provides a soft cushion that won't damage it. On these pads, I simply used my cam tie downs to secure the boat to the trailer's bar. During the hour-long trip to and from the lake, the boat did not move at all.
They were too narrow for my OEM 4Runner rails, so I had to send them back.
Yakima's aero fairing mounting brackets have slots! Is it going to fit perfectly on my Yakima? Whisbars? They also have perfectly spaced mounting tabs that match the Yakima wind fairing perfectly! Even my 36" board fits perfectly in the 30" width--there's no wobble with the wide board because it's about 32" wide where it straps onto the crossbars, so there's only 1" overhang on each side.
For transporting my SUP, I really like the Yakima aero bar pads. The only thing I don't care for is the "non-slip" material that runs the length of the top, ostensibly to prevent your boards from slipping. It's extremely difficult to slide my 30 pound board onto and off the racks, and when loading or removing my board, it makes a loud squealing noise! I'm now trying to figure out how to modify them with extra fabric cover or something.
After trying a few different brands, I'm very pleased with these crossbar pads. These Yakima pads are safe, simple to set up, and stay put. Other options don't adjust as well to different cross rail sizes as this one does.
