On my f150 short bed, I have a large. On a colorado, they should work fine. Make sure your truck is the right size by measuring its width.
It's only the bars that are causing the problem.

Adjustments take some time, but the built-in measuring marks aid in the process. It's made of the strongest materials available. I use mine for a variety of things, including transporting kayaks, wood, and ladders. On the truck, it's also quite nice. br>The crossbar in the photo is a medium 60" crossbar. It performs admirably and allows two kayaks to sit side by side without dangling. The end loops are extremely useful.
The number of separate pieces you have to purchase for this item is insane. You think you've got it all, but you'll need to order this and that as well. It's ridiculous that they don't put everything together in one package. You think you're getting a truck rack for $400, but the installation costs $800.
If you're putting together an overhaul or outpost rack piecemeal, this is the way to go. Some people use tonneau cover kits, for example. Just keep in mind that these bars come with no hardware and no Yakima-exclusive wrench. I had to purchase an additional $50 hardware kit (which took a week to arrive), and that $50 hardware kit also didn't include the Yakima wrench. After that, I drove 50 miles round trip to the dealer to borrow their Yakima proprietary wrench and install it myself. It's a total pain in the neck. At these prices, Yakima should just ship the towers with the hardware, including the HD bars. And for God's sake, include the wrench in a $50 hardware kit with proprietary allen heads that require your proprietary wrench.
On my truck, I've got two of these. One set of bars on the roof (or sometimes just one) and the other on a Yakima Overhaul HD bed rack. The weight capacity of the roof system is lower than that of the bed system, but this is not due to the bars. These bars are capable of handling the HD label. I drive my truck for work and have frequently hauled various amounts of lumber, ladders, and anything else that will bridge the gap between the bars without fear of the bars failing. In the past, I've used round bars and flexed them a little. For the wife's car, I have a set of Streamline bars that I've flexed slightly. These, however, do not. These bars should be included in your design if you require maximum load capacity.
I wasn't sure I was doing it correctly until the very end as I was putting it together. br>It won't be stable until the crossbars are attached - As a result, I was quite concerned. br>Once you get to that point, attaching the cross bars is difficult - It's also a lot of work. br>br>Once assembled, it is a VERY useful piece of equipment - Yakima should design a better way to attach and adjust it. br>br> However, as with all Yakima products - over- For what it is, it is reasonably priced. br>br>Once installed, they're fairly simple to work with, and I've been able to adjust the bases and height without completely disassembling them. br>br>In addition, I believe - in relation to the cost All four bases should be equipped with locks. there are more than two. They should also include a couple of eye bolt (or other attachment point) adapters - as opposed to being a separate purchase br>br>I was also irritated by the fact that I couldn't use my Jet Stream bars again - For this, I had to purchase a brand new set of HD Bars. Yakima should provide a "trade-in" option for their products. Customers who have been loyal to you for a long time will get a "thumb.
Another should be purchased. These are way too expensive. Purchase something that is less expensive and of higher quality. On the Yakima, the quality is poor. They seem to fit, according to him. But nothing fits together, and the screws aren't long enough, so I had to go out and buy better, longer screws.
I adore this Yakima product, and I'm amazed at how well it holds two heavy Hobie kayaks. The item is pricey, but given its capabilities, I would pay for it again. I also appreciate how quickly the towers can be dismantled. So you have to go to the car wash, which is no problem because they detach in minutes.
These bars are used to transport my fishing kayak in my Toyota Tacoma. They are extremely durable and wind-resistant. My kayak and the Denver Outfitters ST rod box both have plenty of room.
