The small bumper pads, when combined with the downtube strap, provide an extra layer of security. You should be able to set the rear wheel into grooves in the truck's bed to restrict movement. If you're really worried, just run a ratchet strap or a bungee from the back cargo hooks over the top tube of the bikes, through the frame, or even over the back wheel itself. After a long search, I discovered that the Sportouro bike pad has all of the features I needed. Big roomy pockets, very easy to set up for one or two people (didn't even need the instructions). Even without the bikes, it looks great! It's suitable for both road and mountain bicycles. Next week, I'm going to give it a shot on my beach cruiser. TIp: When loading bikes, begin on the left (logo side) and work your way to the right, keeping the front bike tires facing the same way.
