These Velcro straps have a gummy side to keep your wheel from spinning, but they're twice as long or longer than most bikes require. My girlfriend has a smaller frame carbon fiber touring bike, and I have three bikes: a large frame Specialized Rock Hopper, a specialized hyrid, and an old Fuji 10 speed touring bike; we had to wrap the straps in very convoluted ways to get the Velcro to work on all of them because the straps are designed to only wrap ONE time around the wheel and frame, but they are so long that we needed to wrap twice or three times. I didn't see any warnings that the product was only for long distances between wheel and frame. If the distance between the wheel and the frame is less than 6 inches, I'd make a guess. This is not the appropriate strap. Update for January 2021: Instead of correcting the problem or updating the product description, the seller has recently made a number of cash offers to remove this review. just FYI.
We tried holding the wheels with elastics every time we rode our bikes on the rode wheels spun all the time until we discovered this incredibly useful item that I had no idea existed! It's fantastic; it holds our bikes' wheels in place, and when we're not using them, we simply leave them in the bike; I can also use these straps to hold my water bottle and other items, such as a yoga mat! cheers!.
When my bike is on my bike rack, it's ideal for keeping the wheel straight and preventing the bike from swaying. It's also great for making loading your bike onto the rack go smoothly, so get one and put it on right before you lift your bike onto the rack! This prevents the front end from swinging, which is inconvenient and potentially dangerous for your fingers. The simplicity of this strap makes it a dream to wear. Using two would be even better, but I split the two packs up so that my fiance could have one for his bike, and one works just fine! We tried rope and velcro ourselves, but they were not as effective, safe, or simple as this.
They're a lot easier to work with than straps, and they're also a lot more durable. I've been using them to secure my bike to the rack because the straps that came with my rack were missing. I've driven over 5,000 miles with these holding my bike to the rack and they still appear to be holding up!.
I've been looking for something like this because I'm tired of my trunk rack wheel moving back and forth, hitting my bumper and making me nervous, causing me to constantly check my rearview mirror on the highway. This was the answer to everything! It would be nice if the straps were a little longer because they fell short of reaching, but that isn't a problem because they provide two straps and instructions on how to put them together! The gel to keep it from slipping on the bike works perfectly, and the straps themselves appear to be well-made. There are no issues!.
When my six bicycles are in storage or in the bike carrier, I use several sets of Sigsit straps to keep them secure. My bikes' finishes will not be harmed by the well-made and protective materials. I'll buy it again, and I'll tell my friends about it. I give this book FIVE STARS. Robert - Arizona.
While mounting my bikes on my bike rack, I kept my wheels straight and kept them from rotating. After seeing how simple it was to secure my wheels, I purchased a second set. br>It's a little pricey for a strap with velcro and some grippy stuff, but it gets the job done.
Having said that, I'm satisfied with my purchase, but you will definitely need the set for a mountain bike.
