Questions & Answers

Is a 12mm axle going to be secure with this? Is a 12-volt battery required, or do I require a 24-volt battery? Is there a 15 mm adaptor available? Thx?

br>You must use the appropriate adapter size - that refers to the exact dimensions of your front wheel fork/axle (i.e. the diameter and length). If the wrong size adapter is used - The adapter will not hold the bike in place - You may also end up damaging your bike or vehicle.

Is there any word on when these will be back in stock?

Around the 10th of January, we anticipate receiving more inventory. We apologize for the inconvenience. Phil

I bought two 15x100 forks, but a strange friend has a 15x110. Is the gloss black portion removable, and if so, where can I get an insert?

On the front wheel, most modern bikes use the new Boost hub size standard of 15X110. You will, unfortunately, need to purchase a new adapter, as I did. Some manufacturers offer universal adapters (until new standards are established), but this is not one of them. That said, they'll set you back a lot more than a bunch of these. Tristan, I'd like to express my gratitude for everything you've done for me

I own two of these and find them to be a worthwhile cost-cutting option
5/5

In May of 2017, I purchased a 15x100mm lens, but now I require a 15x110mm lens. br>This item works well, is sturdy, and, most importantly, is a great value for money when compared to other fork adapters that are way overpriced! br>I use this adapter on two different Yakima roof rack systems (old and new), and while it doesn't have the same low profile as other fork adapters, it works well, stays upright easily, and costs a third of the price of other fork adapters.

Soil is rich, the design is well-thought out, and the price is unbeatable
5/5

My first choice for this adapter was more expensive and could not be imported into the United States/California, so I went with this one instead. I'm glad it worked out this way because the Filzer adapter is about as good as it gets in terms of material, design, and fabrication quality, and it's unbeatable in terms of price. Because carbon fiber forks are very inflexible, you'll need to whip out the angle grinder and file if the fit isn't quite right. br>br>I mounted mine to a Thule rack, which isn't rock-solid. At the very least, it's dependable. The overall sturdiness was reduced as a result of the additional linkage - You don't need to be a mechanical engineer to figure that out. However, I can't imagine a more durable adapter product. The Thule rack's skewer/binder strength, not the adapter, is the weak point. br>br>However, the bike remained securely mounted on the rack. I'm not sure how I'd feel if I were to drive at 65 miles per hour. With this setup, you can go 70 mph on the freeway. I'm sure there'll be a lot more vibration than I'm used to, but I don't see the bike crashing through the roof. If I'm going on a long trip, I'll probably drive at that speed and have someone take a long look at the bike through the sun. Before deciding how quickly we'd move, we climbed to the top of the building. br>br>However, much of that is speculation. I despise driving a car to ride a bike, so I bought this to mount my mountain bike on the back of the car and drive 5 miles a couple of times a week to take the dog for a run in the open fields. At 20-minute intervals, we travel to and from Tilden Park in Berkeley. The Filzer Fork Adapter is ideal for speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. I'm very happy with my purchase, and I appreciate Filzer's efforts to provide a high-quality product at a reasonable price.

For me, it was a huge success
5/5

It performed admirably and was significantly less expensive than Yakima's comparable product. In fact, I'm not sure the Yakima version would have been suitable for my modern-day needs. style trail bike, with a fork mount that is too long and a ratched rear tire. However, because the Filzer Fork Adapter is taller, I was able to tilt it forward, adding length and allowing the rear tire to *just* line up with the ratchet. br>br>Another pro tip: rather than having the skewer do all the work, I found it much more reassuring to mount it with the U shape facing up rather than down, so that it rests on the metal. Last but not least, installing this on the bike first, rather than lugging the bike onto the roof, was much easier for me. The instructions make it seem like you have to choose between the two, but in practice, mounting the adaptor to the rack first makes lining up the thru-holes extremely difficult. axel on a bike that isn't supported.

Simple and trustworthy
5/5

One of these was purchased for my non-profit organization. It was a no-brainer for me to switch to boost. br>br>This is the simplest and cheapest attachment I could find. For literally thousands of miles of winding mountain roads and bumpy dirt roads, I've had a trail bike on top of my car, and it's been fantastic. There is a tiny bit of corrosion where the rack bites (makes contact) after three years, but it isn't rust. br>br>There are other solutions that support both a boost and non-boost. boost axle, but you can get two of these for the same price as one of those and support both standards. br>br>The only drawback I've discovered is that the adapter is tall, which causes the bike to be pushed further back on the rack. I ride a big bike (full suspension, mid travel 29er with wide tires). In all of my years of use, that has been my only complaint.
