I don't think it's silly at all, and I think it's very useful. They aid in the stabilization of our bicycles on the bike rack. Keeps them from swinging too much and the wheels from turning while the car is moving, preventing the pedals from moving and becoming caught in the spokes of other bikes or scratching the car. When the bike adapter bar on the rack came loose, I was able to keep my bike from falling off the rack.
There should be no issues because the gel is an excellent anti-bacterial agent. Once you've repaired the skid, it won't move and won't damage the fender. The only concern is that if the fender is wider than one strap, you'll have to connect two of them. br>Thank you for contacting us with your inquiry.
Yes, if the length of one strap is insufficient, you can join the two, but you may need to use four straps to meet two tires. br>Thank you for contacting us with your inquiry.

If you expose the gel to the heat of the sun, it will melt. on a car that will be in direct sunlight What were you thinking when you designed this with a heat sensitive material? It secures your tire by wrapping around their metal tire rims, which absorb and conduct the heat of the sun and likely cause the strap's gel to melt. Why didn't you include this problem in your ad's bulleted points and only mention it on a slip of paper inside the package?.
These are by far the most beautiful straps I've ever seen. I needed four, but I bought two because I've been disappointed before and didn't want to go through the hassle of returning them. I put them on and they were so much better than anything else I'd ever used (including the factory straps) that I ordered another pair right away. These are extremely durable and long. These straps are well-made and should be purchased. They are well worth the money.
As far as I can tell, the gel grippy side does not scratch the bike and is much easier to use to keep the wheel stable on the bike rack. When I had to construct a factory, I discovered an unexpected benefit. I needed something to keep the fork and handlebars attached to the body while I installed some parts so they wouldn't fall off or bend the cables. So, in general, it's a good thing to have.
This is a fantastic piece of equipment. The tackiness aids in maintaining a secure grip on the wheel. To use these straps on my bike, I had to join two of them together, but that is most likely due to the design of my bike. It keeps the wheel firmly in place for me, and I've driven at 65 mph on the freeway with no issues.
These were purchased to keep my front wheel from flying around on my car rack while I was driving. This is a small velcro strap that fits in the saddle bag of my bike. It performs admirably. The instructions were a little strange at first, but it was fairly obvious how to use it; you must use the shiny side toward the tire (so they say) so it doesn't melt in hot weather. It's been fantastic for me to ride so much (about 100 miles per week).
These straps were purchased to secure my bike to my bike rack after the only thing that had been holding it in place failed. Thankfully, these straps kept my bike on the rack the first time, but nothing held it on the second time, and it fell off, grinding down the handlebar. That story is told in detail in my review of Swagman Bike Rack. br>br>I only had one strap left, so I wrapped it around my power washing cord. Regrettably, the other ones were lost due to a shoddy bike rack design.
This is excellent. The gel coating, for example, prevents slipping. The only drawback is that they aren't quite as wide as my other pair. That should have no bearing on their performance or utility.
