Questions & Answers

Is it possible for me to ride this bike if I weigh 370 pounds?

Yes, these are some serious bikes. My buddy is 6'4 and weighs over 350 pounds, so we have three of them. They are cruisers for us. So, no, your weight should not be an issue for them. To begin with, they're quite heavy bicycles.

What is the weight of it?

My Dolomite was purchased several years ago, just as the Fatbike craze was gaining traction. I already owned a single-speed Mongoose Beast, so it was the logical next step for me on a tight budget. Despite the fact that both bikes are extremely heavy, here's how my Dolomite breaks down: The total length of the front wheel is eleven. 6 lbs. The rear wheel measures 13 inches in diameter. 4 lbs. That's 25 pounds just for the wheels (tires, tubes, spokes, hubs, and disc), with the rest of the frame weighing in at 23 pounds. At 49 pounds, the bike weighs 9 pounds (frame, fork, crankset, handlebars, seat post, and saddle).

Is there any chance that this bike will rust?

If you live in Florida, invest in a bike cover to protect your bike from the sun. It doesn't matter if it's in the garage or not. Dry rot is a serious problem in this area.

Is this bike's frame 22" or 24" in size?

The wheels have a diameter of 26 inches. From the bottom of the frame's seat to the top of the frame's BB (cranks), tube measures 17 inches in diameter. "br>This is a good size for snow riding; With any winter layers on, it's much easier to get on and off the bike. br>If you ride with your seat high, a 400mm extended seatpost (28.6mm) is a good idea. Tube (6mm in diameter)

Be cautious when purchasing something online

I was ecstatic to receive this bike, and I carefully assembled it (I used to do this for Trek, so it wasn't my first rodeo) before taking it for a test ride down my street. Within 800 feet of my driveway, the prowheel brand cheap plastic chain guard shattered into six pieces, cutting my legs, freezing the chain, and sending me end over end. This bike has all the makings of a fantastic machine. Until you realize how much of it is made of plastic, that is. Be careful who you buy from. br>br>Updated on August 19, 2018. Amazon was so gracious in their resolution that they not only sent me the same bike, but they also refunded my money. It was fun putting it together. As I applied light pressure to the front disc brake, I saw it crumple like paper, relying on the rear to slow me down on a gentle curve. I smashed my head into some bushes and the pavement. The front fork was also twisted as a result of braking. I'd show you an image of that as well, but I stripped and repackaged the bike, which will be returned to Amazon tomorrow. br>br>Mongoose and Pacific, you should be ashamed of yourselves for selling cheap bikes under a once noble name, destroying that name, and having such helpless customer support; you'll never see a dime from anyone I have power over for the rest of my life.

For the Fat Brothers, a Bike is required
5/5

I'm trying to reclaim my health, and the prospect of being cooped up in a gym on stationary machines didn't appeal to me at all. The idea of riding an outdoor bike occurred to me, but I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to find a bike capable of carrying all of this (self-points). Second, I was afraid I'd end up looking like the Kool-Aid Man. While riding, an aid man is needed. All of my fears were quickly dispelled thanks to the Mongoose Dolomite Fat Tire Mountain Bike. The fat tires not only support my heavy body (315 pounds), but they also help to balance out my watermelon-like shape. This bike is fantastic, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to reclaim their health.

Excellent value for the money, with plenty of room to grow
5/5

This bike was purchased over a year ago and has been used as a trail bike in San Diego on a regular basis. This bike is a good candidate for anyone who believes in gradually upgrading their bike (and is interested in fat bikes). The bones of the matter: On rocky trails and steep fire roads, the frame, wheels, tubes, tires, and seat have all held up well. I like this bike so much that I bought a brand new Kenda Juggernaut rear tire for it; most of the stock components were not to my liking, but for the price, I was happy to upgrade parts from my spare parts bin (I realize not everyone has one). As a result, When I first got it, everything worked fine; I just wanted to use it for something other than sand cruising, so I dug into my spare parts bin for some better gear, particularly brakes and a crankset. My regular mountain biking friends have been pleasantly surprised that the bike geometry is actually comfortable and the bike does not feel as slow as it looks when I bring my bike for a group ride. These are guys who ride very nice bikes and have high expectations. For the sake of argument - In the front, I used a 26-tooth chain ring, and in the back, I used a 14-tooth chain ring. In the back, there is a 34T freewheel; As a result, climbing gear is more reasonable. I hope this information is useful to anyone who is thinking about buying something.

Hit or miss, great bike, but one arrived in perfect condition, while the other did not
3/5

What now? I bought two Mongoose Dolomite Fat Tire bikes, one for myself and one for my wife, after doing a lot of research and reading reviews on fat tire bikes. I'd say the positive reviews I read on Amazon were accurate, and the negative reviews were accurate as well. My wife's bike arrived in perfect condition, and she quickly assembled it before heading to the beach. My bike, on the other hand, was and continues to be an entirely different story. The box was falling apart, and the plastic intended for packing the gears and wheels was strewn across the bottom. It was all put together by me. I'm not using the front disc brake because it's broken. Every few minutes, the chain falls off the back sprockets, which is annoying. I emailed Mongoose support, and they sent me a PDF with instructions on how to make the changes, as well as the option to return it to Amazon if that didn't work. Neither is a viable option. I'm not sure how I'm going to disassemble this, package it, and send it back. Look, it's a nice bike for a nice price, and judging by my wife's bike, everything appears to be in order. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my bike. I guess I'll have to try to fix it myself.

Pros: For the price, this bike is an excellent buy
5/5

For the price, this is an excellent bike. It's simple to put together if you follow the instructions, and the numerous reflectors, factory metallic dark blue paint, and red wide tire rims give it the appearance of a large tired 4 X 4 vehicle. The Mongoose bicycle also has cable-operated disc brakes that provide excellent stopping power. When it arrived, the wheel bearings had been thoroughly packed and greased. Cons : It's a big bike, and I ride in flat areas, so it gives me a good workout at 50. This vehicle is not suitable for steep hills at my age. I like to customize my bikes with add-ons to fit my preferences and needs (i. e. (Gel seat, rear luggage rack, LED headlights and taillights, mirrors, and so on. ) If you want to personalize your new wheels, there are a variety of add-ons available on Amazon for a reasonable price, and this bike has a lot of room for customization. Bottom line, this is a good bike for the money for both young and old riders.

Buy It

It's going to be fantastic! After seeing fat tire bikes for more than $1000 in bike shops, I decided to purchase this bike. I had not ridden a bike in decades, so pedaling was difficult at first. It looked cool for a year and a half in the garage, but that was it. Because I didn't ride it, my wife and children chastised me. My wife and I finally went on a 35-mile round trip on the Katy Trail this summer. By the end, I was exhausted, but I was enthralled. I've put a few hundred miles on the bike now, and I had to replace a rear inner tube at one point, but it's so beefy that I think I rode about 50 miles with a flat tire before replacing it, and it was much easier after that. The bike attracts a lot of attention and is always a topic of conversation. br>br>The best part is that it got me back into shape after a couple of years of inactivity.
