Ok. SO. I placed an order for a copper-colored 26, which arrived in a timely manner. It was shown that it was on its way to be delivered. Then came the update, which revealed that the number 24 was blue. Wha? I looked at the specs, thinking it was a children's bike, but it wasn't, and I'm only 5'4", so I gave it a minute. Exactly what I needed! I'm glad I didn't get the 26 because I would have had to use a step ladder to get on my Thoroughbred (horse) in the past. Aside from that, it was a breeze to put together! I'm going to the bike shop to double-check that my front brake and wheel are properly adjusted. caliper/pads getting an orbital grind - Obviously, I made a mistake. I have two photos: one before and one after. I'll put both of them up. WARNING: DO NOT ASSEMBLE ON A WOOD DECK WITH SLOTS! I had a fortunate situation. The screw did not get stuck in the crack! As a result, you'll see an old, hideous bed sheet catching everything my old, rheumatoid right hand can't catch when I post the before/after version. Pictures are on their way!.
This bike is a good value for the money, and I'd buy it again as an entry-level fat bike for my child who is interested in joining me in fat biking. However, it is not without flaws. br>1) Assembly is time consuming. It will be difficult for you to put together a bike if you have never done so before. After I put it together, I had to adjust the shifting quite a bit, and someone unfamiliar with these adjustments would be completely lost; similarly, the disc brakes rubbed badly, and I had to adjust their placement. br>2) Be aware that it is extremely heavy. When transporting a bike on a bike rack or climbing an incline, this comes into play, especially for a teen who is just starting out biking. br>3) a set of four fat tires. The tread depth is not very deep and is only 0" wide, which is nice. This translates to a lack of traction on icy trails. When compared to what came on my Trek Farley fatty, I'd say the tread knobs are about half as deep. My son wandered away and fell 3-feet to the ground. 4 times in areas where my bike has had days of grip; however, new tires are very expensive, at least $100 per tire, making tire upgrades on this price-point bike difficult to justify. It would be a fantastic entry-level snow bike if it came with knobblier tires!! br>4) It's stylish, and I'd recommend it as a low-cost way to get started fat biking. However, if you're using it on groomed snow trails, be wary of the tires, but it's fine!.
It's a great fat bike that's simple to put together. It was extremely well packaged. I replaced the twist shifter with a trigger shifter and upgraded the seat to make it more comfortable. This Fat Bike attracts a lot of attention and has a lot of questions about it.
This bike was purchased to keep me active during the winter months in Utah. It's been a great investment so far. I've ridden it on dirt, pavement, and snow, and it's performed admirably straight out of the box. If you've never ridden a fat bike before, you'll need to get used to it. I'm going much slower than I'm used to, and getting this bike moving is taking a lot more effort than I anticipated. It does, however, provide an excellent workout. The 2x8 drivetrain appeals to me and I believe it is an excellent entry-level configuration. However, for the sake of simplicity, I'll be switching to a 1x. But that is just my opinion. If you don't want to make any changes, the setup out of the box will suffice; however, I am switching to hydraulic brakes, at least in the front. The mechanical brake on the back did a good job of stopping the hulk, but the hydraulic brake on the front really helps. After a couple of months, I'll try to update this review.
In a single word, the Argus Trail is a blast! br>I'm glad I got this big tire because it does everything! This is my first mountain bike in 15 years, so I'm not sure I'm the best person to write a review for! However, I am 6'1 220 pounds and this is a perfect fit for me. Take advantage of the opportunity to get one while it lasts! The price continues to rise!.
I really like the bike; I wish the handlebars were adjustable, but that's not a big deal for me. The fact that this $510 is a major problem is a major concern. When I called to say I hadn't received my kickstand, they said it didn't come with it. When I asked what I should do with my bike now that I'm not riding it, they said "just prop it up, lean it against something. " I paid 510. 00 and either find something to "just prop it up" or go to my local bike shop to get an aftermarket kickstand, although I should have bought my bike there as well. Thank you for your custoner service, which isn't very good.
It came from Portugal, and despite the fact that the box was mutilated (the bottom literally fell out when I picked it up off the front porch), I was surprised to find no scratches or damage to the bike itself (the packaging materials weren't so lucky). br>br>Assembly was simple, but Mongoose documentation can be confusing because they use generic manuals with different shifters, brakes, and tire mounts detailed in the manuals for multiple types of bikes, so you'll have to search through the manuals to find the instructions that correspond to your model/features. br>br>Overall, the bike is fantastic; I bought a smaller model for my son, and we live in a rural area on a dirt road, and the wider tires make traversing the road much easier; sure, it doesn't pedal as easily as a street bike, but it makes trail riding a lot easier and more enjoyable!.
