Questions & Answers

Can this be used with vintage hubs that have three speeds?

Despite the fact that this oil is “not formulated for“ 3spd hubs, it might work with them. I have used Sturmey Archer or regular 30wt motor oil for old 3-speed hubs, and they work fine. Dumonde Tech Freehub Oil is designed for lubricating clicking mechanisms and bearings in Shimano, Mavic, and similar freehub

How do you feel about this? How does X freehub oil compare to Y freehub oil?

As for the Pro X lube, I don't know how good it is. I've been using regular Dumonde Tech FH oil for the last couple of years and it seems to work well, is lightweight, and my FH pawls Service is performed at least yearly on my FH, probably about every 3,000 miles. One of the biggest problems is In some cases, freehubs are well sealed up so that it is difficult to flush them out and to apply new lube. Those Mavic FHs are a breeze, as are Shimano FHs that are a little older A higher standard of living Models with end caps are tricky to lubricate.

What is the best way to use this lubricant for chains?

The presence of any oil is better than the absence of any If you are going to use this oil on a chain, you should not do so. My pets are the only ones I use this oil on. You can also find chain oils that are specially designed to protect

I like it very much
5/5

All of this stuff works just like it's claimed to. Below you will find an explanation of what happened and how this oil helped. I cleaned and repainted my house the last time I did it Having greased my hubs, I might have overdone the grease in the rear hub because the ticking of the pawls became progressively quieter after they were put back together. Despite knowing I had made a mistake, I decided to test-ride the bike to determine if the pawls would function properly when riding in So I decided not to clean them out (even though they were absolutely noiseless) because they looked fine (and were completely noiseless). A couple of months went by during which time my freehub occasionally failed to start Prior to this, it did not exist As winter wore on, the skipping became more pronounced. It was soon obvious that I would be a fool to continue going out for a ride. My plastic pawls now had grease stuck to them, and I'd have to admit that they were stuck in too much grease and wax that kept dropping out- It would be nice if they engaged reliably in cold weather. Using the "Grrr" of an exclamation point, I removed the freehub body, cleaned the grease off of it, and applied Now that the language is correctly spelled and spelled As the pawls began to sing with their cheerful tick, their action was restored to being fast and reliable, and their action was once again as reliable as when I was a child. This holds true even when the temperature falls below freezing. The freehub bodies are cheap, but I wanted to experiment and correct my mistake, so I went ahead with it. After setting up the freehub, things have been working smoothly.

Better is simply not possible
5/5

The freehub oil I prefer to use with my Hydra hubs because it's easy to use and makes the hubs sound better as well as being easy to clean. Each of the pivots should have six drops of oil applied to it, and one drop is applied to the freehub ring and hub itself to achieve a total of seven drops.

I was able to use it on my Torch without any problems
5/5

A three-star Industry Nine Torch has been upgraded to a five-star A Shimano driver can be attached to a six-speed This driver for the Pawl XD card is provided by Pawl. As a result of watching a few videos, I bought this liquid as well as Dumonde grease to complete the process. An oil drop was used, based on the video I watched, in the cavity that holds the spring and the pawl. Putting a small dab of grease on top of each pawl and then around the inside of the cog on the wheel after the six springs and pawls are in place is the next step. Before the driver was installed onto the axel and into the housing, it was oiled around the red seal. Until this issue is resolved, the torch hub seems to be very quiet. As for how long that lasts, we'll have to see. There's only one complaint I have - it's bloody pricey, however, this little bottle will probably last me a lifetime. I'll pass it along to my kids so that they can rebuild their hubs, as well.

I love trying out new bike-related lubricants, and the Dumonde Tech freehub lube is yet another new find
4/5

It seems to be a good consistency and I'm sure it will work well. I have only tried it on one hub for now. The Dumonde Tech rear differential lube is not better than automotive rear differential lube (and it is way cheaper), and its results are good (and it is cheaper). However, I am willing to give it a shot.

I expected exactly what I got The oil is light in color
5/5

Use this very light oil on the actual pawls of freehubs to ensure they are not gummed up and cannot stick together. Although I could probably find a much cheaper automotive equivalent, the fact is that you only need a couple drops of this stuff, so this bottle should last me a long time even with.

The sound is loud and smooth
5/5

Then read on! A light oiling is needed on Hope Pro 2 Hub. The running is smooth as butter, and the sound is.

A good hub lube as long as you follow the directions, although I had to knock off a star for how the bottle arrived
4/5

Despite the plastic bag it came in, the product was still good. It seems that some of the contents escaped from I need to clean up before I use the product. Would have been worse if I had used less clean water. The product has not yet been used. However, this is the hub lube suggested by Intel.

My squeak/squeal was fixed once and for all! It went on for a while but then I heard a squeak coming from my front hub that was possibly 6 months old
5/5

The seal on the bag is good. My squeak was gone as soon as I placed a few drops on both sides of the hub.
