Questions & Answers

Do you have a way for me to ?

A pair of these come with it. Your local hardware store is not the type of place I would expect to have a blank to cut such a key. I'll give you a short The chances are not good

Are you able to provide a theft warranty for this lock?

For more information about the warranties on each model, I suggest visiting the Kryptonite website.

Would this lock be able to secure two bicycles?

In our case, we use this to lock the two back wheels together on two cruisers. The type of post on which you lock the bikes depends on the type, but most city bicycle posts are circular and cemented into the sidewalk we can lock the wheels together with one cruiser on either side of the post. The lock is not long enough to grab the frames for safety. One of these locks is used for the front wheel, while the other is used for the rear There is no difficulty unlocking the lock or locking it.

Thank you. I have a recumbentt bike with two wheels in front and one in the back, would this lock work for it?

It is possible to get as close as possible to the bike rack as long as you have a frame part. If you want to make sure your wheels and maybe your seat will be legally secured, you could use an additional cable to secure them. Because of its length, this lock gives you a bit more reach than any other Kryptonite lock. My lock can lock two cruiser bikes to a pole at the same time.

Probably the worst lock you'll ever use
3/5

Buying this lock again will never be an option for me. You can be sure I'll tell you why, and I'll be honest about it. In the beginning, there was a problem with the lock. As such, the key would stick inside the keyhole, preventing it from being able to be locked or unlocked. It is frustration I am talking about. It's difficult to keep yourself calm and understand what position the key must be inserted into the lock to lock it or unlock it for a full 30 seconds at a time. It came with more than one key, so
I tried the other two keys, but I was met with the same issue. Kryptonite sent me the 2 additional free keys that come with your lock, but both of them had the same problem. So I called and asked them to send these keys again. In the end, I decided to buy a replacement lock instead of enduring this embarrassing situation for a while. Considering Kryptonite's reputation, may be it was just one lock. As with the first lock, the second also had a similar It was my first experience with other lock brands so I continued to use this one and just got used to All the spare keys that came with the product, as well as the 2 other keys that I ordered over the phone for free from Kryptonite also got stuck in the key hole. And finally, my bike was stolen in front of a health food store less than 5 minutes after it was locked. As soon as I locked up my bike, I went inside to see if I could find a particular type of muffin in the bakery. I turned around and left, thinking that I shouldn't have been there. All that remained of the Kryptonite lock on the ground when I exited the store was in two pieces. The period of time between these two events is very short for the lock to be broken completely. My bike was locked with this lock so I reported it to the police. Then I sent the information to Kryptonite since they would guarantee it however, I never heard back at all. The first thing I must say is that I will not do business with these people Second, I never plan to buy a lock from them. In addition, I would never recommend one of their locks to a friend. The fourth thing I did was to buy a heavier duty U-tube This lock is made by another company and opens and closes We have solved the problem.

It is difficult to unlock the lock with the key and the bracket is woefully inadequate
3/5

It is very difficult to have a water bottle at the same time. As the key is really hard to get out of the lock, and as the bracket is strange, the lock seems sketchy. I found it a bit too large in the first place and it sticks out of the frame easily by two inches. had the same dimensions. The mounting bracket allowed me to mount it on the edge of a vertical bar that jutted out of the frame directly above the shaft. The attachment didn't get in the way while pedaling since it stuck out roughly the same as the lock. Now this one sticks out over 2 inches and gets in the way with the bracket and lock. In other words, it has to fit within It blocks your ability to take a water bottle either horizontally or vertically. It is also necessary to mount the bracket so that space can be left for the silver mounting clip to be applied to the lock ahead of the bracket so you can then slide it in. Therefore, it goes into most of the frame angles. For a water bottle, the only way I've found that works is to mount it horizontally and then adjust the bracket so that the end of the lock sticks out to the right of the frame. Even I find the lock rather silly (see photo), but it seems to work for the most part.

Also, upon receiving the lock, I clipped it in and started riding to work the first morning. Within ten minutes, the lock has slipped out of the bracket, landed in my cranks, and entrapped underneath my The goal was to avoid getting clipped to the ground As I go back to retrieve the lock (now scuffed up) after a wipeout on a road with traffic going by, I can hear cars passing by. There's an apparent stop that's not quite locked in place, so make sure that the lock is actually locked in place if you choose this. Finally, the way this attachment hangs from the frame is by means of a nylon strap wrapped around another rubber band. Nylon is notoriously not light, so I expect this bracket to break in the next few years due to all the exposure to the sun in a bike lot. You will also experience vibrations while riding the bike. Make the low profile bracket for this lock, please, Kryptonite. If you use this bracket system, your lock will be completely useless. The lock I had was too small to fit on my bike. I finally sent this back, and got a lock that fits on my bike and opens without.

A clean cut was achieved after working until the grain was removed
3/5

When my bicycle was locked with this lock after three years of use, it was stolen. This looks like a piece of metal that has been cut with bolt cutters or something No witnesses, so the job must have been done within a short period of time. The bike was located in the garage of an apartment building. As long as it worked, the system was a good one, but I think it creates a false sense of security, since nothing is completely secure. There are a number of videos on youtube showing locks getting cut in different ways. There is a 13 mm thickness, maybe even a bit thicker An investment in a lock would be more wise.

You can get a good lock for not too much money
4/5

It is a good midrange lock that will deter a thief from stealing a commuter bike. The key mechanism is flimsy, though. A key-shaped washer is mounted above a hole that spins freely, much like a washer attached to a lock. My head is spinning trying to figure out what it may be used for. In the event that your key isn't inserted all the way, the lock will only half turn. Through the elements, it hasn't seized at all since it has a sliding cover. Unlike some other locks, this lock has an attractive plastic handle that is larger than it needs to be but does not make it obtrusive. I still hear this lock rattle as with every other lock I have ever owned. It seems nobody cares about security any more. It is a little neurotic of me to glue rubber bits to my arms to prevent this, but the steel won't hold well with any glue I have.

The mounting mechanism is a strap attached to a metal plate and secured by This was a bit of a surprise to me, as I ride rough roads but I was very pleasantly surprised with how well it worked. This is a rock-solid design and execution that does not move any part of the time until a collision occurs. Wow, what a great idea, glad someone finally thought of it. The problem is that it is quite fat. So far, I have not had the confidence to go without securing my lock at a second point with a strap to my frame. The method I employed worked after I had broken half a dozen mounts on other designs diving over curbs and such. In spite of this, I must say it is a mount that actually inspires confidence that it can handle the job by itself. There is a lot of plastic in the interlocking block and the fit is quite snug.
