Please, please, please don't do this. br>br>After trying to unlock this for over 45 minutes in a parking lot and eventually needing to ask around for bolt cutters and ruining my bike to remove this junk, I wanted to cry tonight from frustration. br>br>the key never turned consistently, always had to be forced, and eventually gave up. br>br>keep in mind- Seriously, you get what you pay for if you spend a few extra dollars.

The construction is of high quality
5/5

Extremely durable (as well as hefty). NEW KEY AND LOCK SYSTEM (NOT BIC) Pen thief is a term used to describe someone who steals pens from able. In the Q, there is some ambiguity. A and some customer reviews here, which is most likely due to the fact that you can order a variety of Bell U lock models here, all of which are different sizes, have different locking mechanisms and features, and come with various accessories. The letter Q A and reviews are grouped together, and model distinction is not always possible. br>br>I bought the 500 U model, so that's what I'm going to tell you about. When I ordered it in June of 2016, I got it for only ten dollars — I'm guessing it was due to a system glitch or error. There was a several-week wait, so that could have been a factor as well. However, when compared to similar locks, it's still a good deal at full price. br>br>For starters, THIS SPECIFIC 500-THOUSAND-THOUSAND-THOUSAND-THOUSAND-THOUSAND-THOUSAND-THOUSAND-THOUSAND-THOUSAND-THOUSAND-THOUSAND-THOUSAND U BELL LOCK DOESN'T HAVE THE SAME ROUND KEY AS THE BIC PEN EASY-TO-USE KEY. The key resembles the key to my VW car more than any other regular key I've ever seen with a bike lock, and it has theft hacking issues. (Keys and exposed key hole can be seen in the attached photo. ) ) The silver bit is a cylinder or sleeve that rotates to reveal or conceal the key hole. I'm hoping that this will prevent dirt and debris from getting into the keyhole. One of the keys (the red button) has a small built-in LED light. One does not, while the other does. It's pretty cool, but because it's smaller, I'll probably use it without the light. It DOES include a bicycle mount. br>br> In the photo, you can see this. It has a red release tab (sorry, photo is a little dark)br>br>The U is made of heavy-duty steel. The material has an oval shape and measures approximately 0. 625" x 0. Without the rubber coating, it's 5" thick. The length of the cable is approximately 0. There was no exposed cable to measure it bare, so it was 45" thick, including the rubber outer coating. On a scale of one to five, Bell gives this a "5" for security. There isn't a lock on the market that will keep a lockpicker away. That is true of any lock, though. Bolt cutters, unless they're ridiculously large or hydraulic, will not cut through the U part. With anything less than a pair of large bolt cutters, you won't be able to quickly cut through the flexible cable, but that will only get you the front wheel. Bike thieves, according to my understanding, use extremely long metal pry bars to gain enough leverage to bend the U-bolt. Open the lock. It appears that the hundred dollar lock would require roughly the same amount of force as this one. According to police, the best way to deter this type of theft is to make sure there isn't enough room inside the "U" to fit a large pry bar — so get a smaller U-shaped garage. lock. However, if you choose the smaller U-shape, you'll save money. What's the point of having a lock that you can't get the "U" around your bike and a stationary object? And, as the saying goes, if someone is desperate enough to steal your bike, they will. br>br>The flexible coated cable does have "memory," but it's a short cable, so it's strangely manageable. I usually despise memory cables, but on this shorter, thicker cable, I like it — it returns to a nice loop that you don't even have to keep neat with the included velcro strap. br>br>Because it's such a heavy-duty lock, it has a vexing drawback. It's also worth noting that this thing is extremely difficult to transport. Mine is about a half-pound lighter than yours. With everything you see in the photo, including both keys, it weighs over 4 lbs. But I'm only going to the store because I'll be lugging a lot of groceries home anyway. The ingenuity and resourcefulness of bike thieves creates an odd quandary: one of the major factors that significantly increases the value of a bike is its weight. The higher the percentage of carbon-free products, the better. The more carbon fiber components your bike has, the more valuable it is, and the more thieves will want to steal it. So you spend all this money shaving grams only to be burdened with increasingly heavy locks, chains, and other items. If they are going to leave their bike unattended for an extended period of time, they may want to consider driving a less expensive bike instead of investing in a more expensive lock. br>br>This gets a 5-star rating from me. Overall, I gave it five stars because I'm a cheapskate who doesn't own a ridiculously expensive bike, and I really like this U-turn. A locking system with a lock and a cable is used. — I'm not sure what the point of spending a lot more money on Kryptonite or other ostensibly fool-proof material is. You will be apprehended by the proof lock. The youtube videos have essentially confirmed for me that they will not protect your bike any better than this one.

Lock is stuck due to poor quality
3/5

The lock mechanism gets stuck when turning the key to lock and unlock, which I noticed almost immediately after receiving this product. In addition, the construction quality is extremely poor. The lock's plastic skin is flimsy and deformed, and it appears to be about to disintegrate. When not in use, the mount that secures the lock to the bike frame is also of poor quality. When the lock is fastened to the mount, it jiggles. br>br>Overall, this product has left me extremely dissatisfied.

Following the incident, Bell was gracious enough to send me a new lock
3/5

After a few months, the lock pins became stuck. I was a little rough with the key because it was sticking a lot because it had gotten wet. I ride my bike to work and commute in all kinds of weather, and I'm hoping that a lock won't become too finicky as a result of a little rain. For the love of God, I live in a swamp in Florida. After the original lock broke, Bell was kind enough to send me a replacement, but I was done with their product and sold the replacement to someone else. My Master lock has been working flawlessly for over a year. I've been using it for 5 years and it's never let me down. I purchased this as a backup for extra theft protection (locking both wheels), but the extra time it takes to lock two wheels, as well as my previous experience with this lock, convinced me to stick with my trusted Master Lock.

I didn't even get a chance to use it! I've never written an Amazon review before, but I felt compelled to do so for this one
3/5

Maybe I'm just unlucky, but the lock failed the first time I tried it. Everything appeared to be in order at first; the key was inserted, the lock was locked, and everything appeared to be in order. When you try to remove the key, you'll run into issues. It was completely stuck, regardless of how I turned it. The key finally comes out after 15 minutes of fidgeting, twisting, and experimenting with different pressures and angles. I considered my options. I figured maybe that key was defective, so I tried the spare, and sure enough, the same thing happened. Avoid this lock at all costs to save money and frustration.

Bell Catalyst 750 Long Shackle U-Shape U-Shape U-Shape U-Shape U-Shape U-S Lock
3/5

I bought a 750 U-Haul truck. I've had it for a few weeks and have been using it. It's a solidly constructed lock with a lot of muscle. But . There is no mounting bracket for this on your bike, though you might think there is based on the description. It's extremely difficult to operate the lock. The key does not make a smooth turn. Instead, it binds when you try to turn it. To get this thing to work, you'll have to fidget a lot. I've put some Lock-in on my computer. Ease (graphite) is a word that has a lot of different meanings depending on who you ask. There hasn't been any progress. I've owned a lot of u-haul trucks, so hopefully it'll calm down with time. Over the years, I've used a lot of locks, and this one is the most inconvenient and inconvenient to use.

The lock is far more secure than anything else you're likely to encounter
5/5

The lock is more secure than anything you'll find outside of a bank vault, and no one, and I mean no one, will be able to pick it or cut it with anything other than hydraulically operated bolt cutters. Cutting the bike rack would be easier, but then you'd have to figure out how to get it off the bike frame.
