I am so pleased with this product that I ordered a second one after purchasing the first. Both were supposed to be Christmas gifts, but the first one ended up being a lifesaver during an unexpected emergency on the day I received it and only had it in my vehicle because I checked my mail on my way out of the house and it was there. We had a storm that dumped 18 inches of rain in less than 12 hours, and I was out hunting with my boyfriend when we decided to head home. It had been beautiful when we left; snow had just begun to fall, but there was no snow on the ground. The amount of snow we had received in just a few hours was frightening, and the road was terrible! We were nearly forced off the road as we drove up the country back road to our house when a large tree fell in the road in front of us, which we had not expected to be the first to fall. Our path of escape was limited, and while sliding from the embankment onto the edge of the road we were petrified when our path was interrupted by debris near the tree where another branch was knocked off, and knocked from the same tree yet we were unable to reach it. This is a less traveled road, and because we were half in the jurisdiction of the county next to us and half in the jurisdiction of the county we live in, both of which are small town road crews, we knew we were in the worst possible situation. There was little doubt that we would be on our own for a long wait if we waited for help in this location. Even if someone who lived on that road came by, the chances were slim because the section of road was only about 3 miles of woods and fields, and the houses on either side were accessible from either end of the road, and each used the ends that did not travel through this section. In fact, the section has never been paved, indicating that the expense of paving this area was not justified. br> I remembered that I had received this chainsaw that day, and by the grace of God, I had remembered to pick it up on my way out. br>Because of this situation, my boyfriend received his gift early, and he was impressed even before trying it, but I can tell you that we were both surprised and extremely pleased with how the chain got us out of the mess that lay on the vehicle AND was able to handle removing a section of tree wide enough for us to get through the path we made in the road! I never thought it would be able to handle the tree because it was larger than we thought the chain could handle, but it did, and we had to cut the section into manageable pieces before putting chains around them and pulling them apart with our suv's hitch. Thank you so much for this invention, and thank you to Amazon for getting it to us so quickly. It was wonderful to have such a resource to assist us. Due to the severity of the storm blocking an already unstable phone service area, we didn't even have enough phone service to call for help! br>I've already recommended this chain to four other people, and I've purchased a second one for my son. Next, I'm going to get one for my car! br>I wish I could show you a photo, but my boyfriend took it hunting with him today, as he has done every day since. It's been 5 days since that day, and these photos were taken today; things have improved since then, so this will give you an idea of what we faced and how we got through that night. We accumulated a lot of snow in the few hours since we left, so when I say this saw saved my life, I really mean it, because hypothermia from trying to get to help would have been a serious threat if we had left the warmth of the vehicle when we got really cold while working our way out providing. We could have gone faster if the snow hadn't been an obstacle because the saw was capable of doing so, but we weren't.
Privet is an annoyance tree whose only saving grace is the softness of its wood. Green privet, on the other hand, is tougher than the saw's teeth. It dulled in under 5 pulls against green wood, as I mentioned in the headline. This won't work on dried wood, much less dried peaches, cherries, apples, or walnuts. Citrus is also quite soft, particularly green citrus, and this item is useless against it. DO NOT CONSIDER THIS FOR SURVIVAL! br>br>DO NOT CONSIDER THIS FOR SURVIVAL! You'll expend all of your strength on the tiniest of branches!.
