It is easy to stretch it to 12 inches.
Check out pictures 3 and 4 to see how it works It takes up 24 inches of space if only the handle is folded. There is no folding of the blade. You can see how to fold it in picture 5 by following the steps.

The blade glides through wood with a solid and steady stroke, and it's easy to store and set up. There is only one complaint, and it is the fact that the locking mechanism that keeps the saw in place sticks out, creating a small bump on the handle that is uncomfortable when used for long periods. It will be helpful to wear leather gloves in this case. This is an awesome tool that I can't wait to use.
The saw handle arrived damaged due to an incident in shipping (the box was crushed during delivery). As soon as I could, I emailed I emailed the manufacturer the next day, and they responded quickly. UPS expedite shipping enabled me to receive a replacement handle and spare screws in 3 business days! Prior to going on a winter camping weekend, I broke up my previous folding saw. Luckily, I got this one at the last minute before leaving. It's amazing how much I love it. Off-road adventures and camping with it are some things I do in my truck. It would be wise to invest in a spare blade for dry wood in case something goes wrong.
