I was really looking forward to getting my hands on this axe, but I was let down. The axe was snapped in half on the second throw! In my opinion, it is not long lasting and a waste of $40.

This item is of poor quality. My roommates threw axes from this company, and I was quite impressed. However, after placing an order for this, The quality isn't up to snuff. The first came with metal shavings and a bolt with a jacked-up pattern that you won't be able to tighten again. The sheath is causing issues. I decided to give them another chance and find someone else to replace them. Rust has built up on the replacement. And there's the matter of the equilibrium. I'm done. Cold steel is what I'm going to go with.

When it comes to tomahawks, there aren't many to choose from. This is a stunning piece. It was razor-sharp when it arrived. in addition to being extremely polished Just don't try throwing it unless you're an expert; when I release it, the pummel at the bottom of the handle catches on my fingers. As a result, the hawk flew in all directions except the one I wanted it to go in. EDIT: br>br> 2017- The head of the tomahawk sheared off at the first rivet while I was using it today. On each side of the rivet, the steel had a different consistency. I'm currently waiting for assistance from Amazon to see if SOG will repair or replace this hawk under its "Limited Lifetime Warranty. " There will be more coming soon.

tactical as well as practical SOG is known for producing items of exceptional quality. It's no different with this tomahawk. I've been throwing it for a few days now, and it only got a minor ding after hitting a nail buried in my plank, which I ground out with a diamond sharpener. The top edge has been rounded a little more, making it even easier to throw. It's well-balanced, with a tough pommel. It has a nice weight to it. My husband tossed it into an old stump, where it sunk about two inches. To get it out, I had to use a crowbar. I have other hatchets for cutting and splitting wood, but this one would suffice in any of those situations. It can take a lot of punishment and has a very comfortable grip.

You won't be disappointed if you don't set your expectations too high. It's nothing more than a toy, really. When steel is wet for the first time, it begins to rust. After a few log whacks, the handle is starting to loosen. Sheath is a dreadful piece of work. The stitching was already coming apart when I took it out of the package. The blade is nearly as sharp as a butter knife. The pointy part, on the other hand, is quite sharp. Sharpening the blade is a simple process. The grip on the handle is quite good. It appears to be extremely appealing. It will not let you down if you are gentle with it. To summarize, this is a low-cost Chinese toy. For a while, it was fun to throw at trees; after all, I like sharp pointy things. I'm not sure what to say. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

In a survival hawk, there's a lot of money to be made. I already owned a SOG FastHawk when I purchased this hawk, which I purchased primarily as a throwing hawk, which it excels at. I wanted to see if the VooDoo hawk could be thrown as easily as the FastHawk because of its longer cutting edge, more aggressive bottom "hook," and pommel. The hawk cuts well right out of the box, but a little sharpening greatly improved this, and I did reshape the contour on the piercing point to increase penetration, all in about 30 minutes of work with a stone and file. The hawk throws well, after you get used to the pommel sliding through your hand and removal of the pommel, which is quite easy, improved this ability, but unless throwing is your primary use for this hawk, I'd leave it on as it br>br>With over 300 throws into and against the butt end of a 26" log, not all of them stuck as intended, and no loosening of the handle or blade damage, this hawk is nearly indestructible. The short handle makes it simple to pack in almost any method while still providing striking power for any job that this type of tool would be used for. It chops well and can easily pierce cinder blocks and steel doors, as well as removing a car window with a single tap. The only "con" I can think of is that the sheath, which does a great job of protecting both the blade and you, is unusable. Without risking injury, you can do it one-handed. Even though I didn't buy the hawk for the sheath, I still gave it five stars. If you require a sheath, you can purchase one aftermarket. ability to work with one hand br>br>I'm a retired firefighter with 28 years of service and 18 years of experience as a law enforcement officer in various roles. I would strongly recommend this hawk as an addition to any firefighters utility belt; I could have used it many times, and having this tool in a squad car could save many lives on emergency scenes where minor extrication is required quickly and the police arrive first, which they almost always do.
