Questions & Answers
Thank you for writing about this fantastic Hults Bruk Axe, and I appreciate it. It'll be fantastic. It's not a carving axe, but it's perfect for kindling. br>Many thanks to ImagineGear for their assistance.
I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. This hatchet, on the other hand, is a fantastic little tool. Useful for chores around the campfire, such as managing a fire with mostly already prepared wood. It's ideal for carving. br>Its sleek design is pleasant to the touch and appears attractive in person. It's a nice tool to have in my toolbox.
Yes, you can, as long as you follow the rules! For splitting, use tent pegs or wooden wedges rather than metal wedges. Even though the pole has been hardened, it is not a hammer.
Absolutely not, in my opinion. Get a carpenter's axe, which is better for woodsman and woodcraft. The Husqvarna one on Amazon is the best deal! The hatchet would then be my second choice after mastering your craft; I own seven axes and a chainsaw, and I plan to do some YouTube videos soon to demonstrate why!

Before I puled the pin on this Hults Bruk Jonaker Hatchet, I debated it for quite some time. I wish I had placed my order sooner. In contrast to the Wild Life, which I found to be too light for the length of the handle, this hatchet is ideal for bushcraft and fire preparation. This isn't a toy hatchet, so don't be fooled. It has quickly become one of my favorites due to the perfect balance between the hickory handle and the forged head. Is it something I'd do if I needed to fell a large tree? No way! I wouldn't even attempt to make kindling with my Forest ax. br>br>I use it instead of a knife for everything from shaving feather sticks to dressing small game; don't let the picture fool you. It is extremely durable. Do not hesitate to purchase it. Mike, br>Semper Fibr>Mike, br>Semper Fibr>Mike, br>Semper Fi.
That was easily remedied with a little sanding. Except for the last quarter inch on the bottom, which was still flat, and a small chip about half an inch from the top, the blade's edge was razor sharp. Not deal breakers, but you'd expect a higher level of quality control for the price. I've found tools that are significantly less expensive and have a higher quality finish. Also, the sheath I received is not the same as the one shown; the one I received has no stop on the strap to keep it from working loose.
For a long time, I'd been looking for a small carving axe that would give me as much control as possible as a bridge between roughing out with a larger hatchet and knife carving. This is exactly what the doctor ordered. br>br>The short handle and light head give you a lot more control than choking up on a larger hatchet's handle. br>br>Using this hatchet to rough out spoons and bowls from logs and limbs would be frustrating and exhausting, but it's unbeatable for refining roughed-out blanks before knife work. br>br>The quality is excellent, and the edge arrived razor sharp and with a great carving bevel.
A small nick can be seen on the edge of this blade, which I believe will fade away with sharpening. The wooden handle is beautiful and ergonomically designed for the tasks that this hatchet is designed for. The leather sheath is also excellent; it smells like genuine leather and has a unique design. It is possible to holster the sheath by sliding a belt through it, though this is inconvenient and difficult to deholster. br>br>Overall, a good product. Keep an eye out for shipping issues, as that is what happened to mine.
This little carving axe is quite lovely. It's a small spoon that's easy to work with. The bevel is ideal for fine work while also being robust enough for roughing. For wood carving, this is a good all-around tool. It has a lovely handle. I scraped the warning label off with my card. I believe that in the future, instead of a tag, people should be able to remove it. After that, I had to re-oil that side. Finally, there is a 2 milimeter defect at the top of the bit's edge, as well as a slight twist in the bit, both of which are minor enough to keep me from returning the axe, but significant enough to reduce the rating to four stars. I'd expect those items to be the best of the axe at this price point.
Huskavarna is a far superior option. I like it, but for the price Hulks Bruk is asking, they should have cleaned up the foundry pits and removed the slag from the hatchet. However, the steel is of good quality. Quality control on Hulks Bruk's part should be improved. Let's end on a more upbeat note. There were no issues with the head being properly seated. The sheath is made of thick, oiled leather that is well-made, which is a plus.
This is Hults Bruk's smallest hatchet, so it's limited in what it can do, but it's well-made and does what it can. It's lightweight and comes with a factory edge that's probably sharper than most non-professionally sharpened knives. Knives made to order.
This is an incredible little hand axe. I was also using a GB hand axe that was almost identical. For aesthetic reasons, I prefer the GB version. However, that is a matter of opinion; this is an excellent axe.
