Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
Chopping kindling and small to medium-sized logs is a breeze with this tool.
To get more work done faster, chops deeper with each swing.
Like an aluminum baseball bat, the perfected balance and power-to-weight ratio increases swing speed, multiplying power.
Blades are sharpened using a proprietary blade-grinding technique, resulting in better contact and cleaner cuts.
Warranty is for a lifetime. The blade has a low-friction coating that cuts through wood and keeps the head from becoming stuck.

Questions & Answers

Is this going to be enough in the event of a zombie apocalypse? How many zombies would you be able to kill with this? Will this be enough to deal with a zombie horde?

If you want to survive a zombie outbreak, you'll need the x11; this one is super short, which means the zombies will be able to get very close to you before you can hack their brains out.

The following is the country of origin, as stated in the description: China. What's up with the phrase "Made in Finland" on the website?

That's something I'm also trying to figure out. br>"Made in Finland" does not appear to be molded into the top of the handle on the axe head any longer, according to the Fiskars website. br>On the head of my 9-inch Gerber, it only says "Finland," but on the card it came with, it says "Made in Finland." br>I paid a little more for that Gerber because I was able to verify that it was made in Finland.br>I'm not having the same luck with this 14-inch. br>It's too bad they don't include images of the card stock, box, or anything else so people can see what they're getting into ahead of time.br>Usually, I assume that if Country of Origin isn't listed, it's because they're not particularly proud of what they've done. br>As a result, I'm guessing it was made in China. br>br>I have a couple of Svea 123 backpacking stoves for sale. "Made in Sweden" is stamped on the older ones, and it's true. br>The new ones simply say "Sweden," which isn't exactly a lie given the company's location. br>You'd be surprised how many people assume that because the stove base says "Sweden," it was made in Sweden. br>br>I'm afraid that's what's going on in this situation. When people see "Finland" stamped on the axe head, they think "Made in Finland." br>Or, on the other hand, Fiskars might not be interested in that game. br>br>BTW, I'm not implying that a hatchet made in China isn't a good hatchet. But, unless Fiskars maintains a strong presence at the factory to ensure quality control, I believe the odds are stacked against them.

What is the procedure for sharpening it?

Sharpen the blade with the slope of the head in mind, using a 4" grinder with a very fine flap wheel. Use a diamond hone to finish it, rather than against it.

Are you a fan of steel?

I did some research on your behalf. I found the following information to be the most helpful: br>It's made of forged carbon steel with a HRC of 50 to 60. I hope this information is useful.

You don't have to be concerned about the blade chipping
5/5

Some users have expressed their dissatisfaction with the blade chipping and the steel being too soft. I bought this hatchet after hearing great things about it from a friend, and I figured I could return it if it didn't meet my expectations. I was cutting down a downed fir tree for firewood and used this to cut off small branches and nubs that the chainsaw couldn't reach. I also used it to cut strands from large logs I was splitting with wedges. After only one afternoon of use, the blade had chipped all the way along the blade, just as other reviewers had predicted. Then I decided to resharpen it, only to discover that the chips weren't caused by the metal itself, but rather by the coating on the metal, which was easily chipping. The blade was simply covered in a thick coating. I was able to continue working after sharpening it down to bare metal, and the blade was no longer a problem. There was no chipping, and the edge held up well. I am very pleased with this hatchet because it is extremely light and sharp.

I have a 5-year-old model that is razor sharp, even after extensive use, abuse, and no sharpening
3/5

This one is nice and light weight, and it's easy to swing, but it doesn't cut particularly well. br>I chop kindling with an old log that I have. When I'm finished, I put my hatchets in the log. The 5-year-old Fiskars does a good job of burying himself. Once sharpened, my regular 20-year-old hatchet buries itself. This model lands on the log with ease. br>I accept responsibility for my lack of maintenance and for misusing and abusing my tools, and I don't expect much in return. When I buy a hatchet that claims to be the sharpest thing since my grandmother's tongue, however, I have high expectations. br>Perhaps I was given a bad apple. It happens all the time. This hatchet, however, will be returned to me. I'll just sharpen the ones I already have and use them.

Watch it sell used, marked, and damaged tools for full price; when I bought this, it didn't say it was used, and the sheath was broken
3/5

I'm disappointed because the handle feels very slick, as if it's coated in oil or grease. I own other Fiskar products, and I've never been disappointed by a used, battered slimmy tool. If I may say so, there are no stars. I prefer to get the most bang for my buck, so I paid full price for a used item.

Steel that is JUNK! The edge has been rolled! When I got it this morning, I dressed it up with some Diamond hones
3/5

I was about to hang it when I decided to try it out on a section of split Osage orange. The corner has been shaved down to a very fine point. Take a look at what happened on the cliff's edge! Hardness has been added to this steel. This could be something from China, but not Fiskars! I'm undecided about whether I should replace or return the item. DISAPPOINTED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT! Where have all of the "No Stars" disappeared to?.

For outdoor adventures, this is my go-to hatchet! This bad boy is primarily used for camping and outdoor adventures
5/5

This necessitates a significant amount of brush and firewood cutting. My most recent trip involved a cold camping night where we had to keep the fire going all night, which necessitated a large amount of firewood. We didn't have any dead wood near us, so I had to use this Hatchet to fell a fairly large tree and then cut and split a good amount of wood for the night. br>br>It was a difficult task in any case, but I thought using a 14" hatchet to complete it was insane! The blade is of good quality and is easy to swing. For me, the balance was ideal, and all brush tasks and small tasks were a breeze to complete. I even used it to fell a large tree, as I mentioned earlier! This is my go-to buddy in the woods, and I'm very happy with it:.

It's possible that you'd prefer to buy something from the area
5/5

UPDATE: Fiskars sent me a new hatchet to replace the one I had previously purchased, which is all I could ask for. Please take the time to read the entire review. My son- The hatchet and splitting axe that my law has are both excellent products; however, the one I ordered would not hold an edge and kept rolling over. I emailed Fiskers with my complaint, and they promised me a replacement within a few days. The next day, I received a shipping confirmation. If the product is excellent, I will give it a five-star rating. If you buy something locally, you'll almost certainly be able to get a replacement when you return it. In mass manufacturing, anyone can make a bad part; what matters to me is how they handle a customer complaint.

When you use this one, make sure to yell TIMBER! It'll get rid of a few trees!   Pro's:
- The weight and feel in your hand are excellent
5/5

br>- The sheathe design makes it simple to attach to a packbr>- The price is very low. br>br>Cons:
- Nonebr>br>Wow, what a fantastic little tool this is! It's not overly heavy, and it's a joy to hold. It may appear to be light, but it packs a powerful punch! With this hatchet, I can easily slash through small trees and create tinder. It's a fantastic camping tool in general. br>br>Another feature of this hatchet that I really like is the plastic sheath that comes with it. This hatchet has a plastic loop that you can easily wrap cordage or a carabiner around. This makes attaching the hatchet to a backpack a breeze. Those fancy European hatchets do look amazingly awesome, and I sure would like to have one myself! br>br>Another feature of this hatchet that I love is the price. For the price of one of these Fiskars hatchets, you could get ten of them! This hatchet does the job well and is a great value for the money. br>br>This is a fantastic all-around hatchet that I strongly recommend. Just remember to yell TIMBER when the trees start flying to the forest floor after a few swings from this beast!br>br>** If you found my review helpful, please tell Amazon by clicking the helpful button below!.
