The grip is excellent and the size is perfect for my pack. You may find getting the hatchet out to be somewhat difficult if you are hurried.

In the end, what you pay for is what you get. An easy to use hatchet made of lightweight materials. It is unclear why there is so much hype. I feel like with more use I can build up a proficiency with it to manage woodwork, but if you really want a hatchet for camping, stay with the full length one. Some people have pointed out that this substitutes for a long knife when they prefer to carry a smaller profile knife and opt for a belt hatchet when doing light.

An axe with a wooden handle used to belong to me. The previous one was heavy and bulky, so I purchased this one instead. The balance of the swing seemed off to me from some of the other reviews, but it feels perfect in hand and I can swing it smoothly.
