Questions & Answers

I'm curious about the origin of this axe. I prefer to purchase goods manufactured in the United States. ?

Yes, this item is manufactured in the United States of America. It's encouraging to see that others value purchasing products made in the United States. We have better products, there is less counterfeiting, and there is no child labor. Products made in the United States are supported by both Democrats and Republicans!

This hatchet is made of what kind of steel?

The quality is poor. Although the company claims that the hatchet is of high quality, it performs as if it were made of very low-quality steel. It's simple to chip away at the edge and lose the game. It's a shame because it appears to be lovely.

It has the number 14 written on it. 9 ounces. Is that correct? The majority of the hatchets with fiberglass handles appear to be in the 1. In the 4 pound range. ?

I just got mine and weighed it on a scale that was accurate to 1/100 ounce. The synthetic sheath that comes with it adds another 30 grams to the total weight. It weighs 05 oz with the sheath and 28 oz without it. 45 oz. This equals 1 when converted. 87 and 1. The weight difference is 78 lbs in each case. To put it another way, as of February 7, 2016, the Product Description weight was 14. The hatchet I received was completely off at 9 oz.

Is this e24ase axe manufactured in the United States?

The city of Rockford, Illinois, has a long history as a manufacturing center. A Jeep manufacturing plant can be found a few miles down the road in Belvidere, Illinois. Estwing is one of the few remaining original manufacturers, and their axes are unquestionably the best you can get for the money!!

I was looking for a hatchet, not a goo-removing exercise
4/5

Come on, manufacturer, this is a great little hatchet. Remove the stupid sticker that takes 15 minutes to remove, and then I need to get some goo gone or some other product to make the handle less sticky! needed? Sticker? I'm going to bury the hatchet right now. I may be the first to write about it, but I'm sure I'm not the first to get a hatchet and start hacking away at the sticker with it. Of course, it doesn't come off in one piece, but 50, and you'll have to scratch it off with your nail. only to waste more time scrubbing the handle to make it usable again, with no sticky **** on it. You people have piss poor planning. fix it. a small piece of plastic, similar to the ones used on clothing, with a warning label It does the job, is easy to remove, and leaves no mess. / Think! The hatchet, on the other hand. br>br> solid. works. Does exactly what it's supposed to do. Apart from getting sticky messes on your hands, that is. It's the right size. a nice equilibrium design of high quality Wood is cut. The hatchet can be safely stored in the sheath while the other side can be used as a hammer for tent stakes or whatever else. I recommend purchasing this (along with a bottle of goo gone) so that you can enjoy it without the hassle and sticky mess. crud- on your- a free hand.

This is a complete waste of time
3/5

This axe and the lack of quality that it possesses have left me EXTREMELY disappointed. > (br>br>I ordered it for my boyfriend's birthday, so returning it now and getting another one is pointless, takes away from the surprise and excitement of him owning a throwing axe, and is just plain frustrating and pointless. Gaps exist between the handle forge and the blade's shaft. Which is alarming because you never know when it'll snap and injure someone. The handle's detail and design are completely chipped, and the top clear protective coating is also chipping all over the place, making it look like total garbage. I'm embarrassed that this is what I gave him for his birthday present. I'm so angry about this purchase that I can't even put into words how disappointed I am.

Before and after photos are shown
5/5

After receiving this, I decided to sand off the varnish on the handle with 100 grit sand paper, as suggested by one of the other reviewers. Over the next three days, I rubbed Neatsfoot oil on it. I'm guessing I put on around 20 pounds. It takes patience to apply 30 coats. However, the end result was well worth the effort. I'll include some before and after shots, but the real difference is in the way it feels. The handle isn't nearly as slick as the previous one, and it feels a lot more comfortable in my hand.

Quality assurance is lacking
3/5

What shoddy work! I was ecstatic to receive this lovely axe, but as soon as I opened the box, I knew I'd have to return it. The blade is riddled with small chips. Despite the fact that the description stated 14", mine was only 13". The leather handle is riddled with flaws, and the clear coat is covered in hairs. If it has Estwing stickers on it, it appears to be a knock. Even the case is a farce; after unbuttoning, you must awkwardly pull the handle through the small opening. I suppose you can't rely solely on positive feedback. I'm going to Home Depot to see what they have available.

Terrible
3/5

For the first time since purchasing, I used this hatchet for less than 20 minutes on a single trip. The blade dulled almost instantly (due solely to cutting wood; no other surfaces were struck), and the bottom plate is already loose. Unfortunately, the return period has expired because I did not go camping soon after purchasing it. It's a pity, because a similar hatchet from the same company worked out beautifully for a friend. This is a complete sham and a complete waste of money. It's not something you should buy.

Is it possible that it's been used or that it's a forger QC isn't going to be able to get away with this
3/5

This is the second Estwing hatchet I've bought, and it pales in comparison to the first. The ax head has two cracks, one of which wraps around one of the corners. The clear coating on the handle is flaking off easily, and it has dark scuffs all over it. I also ordered a 14-inch Hatchet, but it is only 12 3/4 inches long. Estwing makes excellent tools, but to avoid these problems, I recommend buying one in person.

Blemishes on the blade of the axe, as seen in the attached photos
3/5

As seen in the attached photos, the axe has unusually brighter'shades. ' Furthermore, there are cracks, as shown in picture 2. It's impossible to say how far they'll dig. It's possible that the axe's blade will shatter as a result of the cracks. Which may endanger passers-by or you! br>Clearly, the manufacturer takes advantage of those who have received a defective product by refusing to return it. due to a lack of time (including myself).

Tiny, gummy, and uninteresting
3/5

I was looking for a small hatchet, but it's useless. Chopping is difficult due to the lack of weight in the head, which would be difficult even if the blade were sharp, which it isn't. I wasn't expecting the stickers to be a big deal, but three? Is it possible to use the cheapest glue available? The use of Goof Off to remove them resulted in white streaks; I'm sure there was some kind of protective oil on the steel, and I realize it's just a tool, but sheesh. The main issue is that it is too small to perform the yardwork I require, such as cutting roots and branches. I like the idea of a small swing that can fit into a small space, but this design doesn't give the swing any power. On a hike where weight is an issue, it could be a useful tool. However, if you need to cut wood when you get to your destination, you won't be able to use it.
