Questions & Answers

The owner of this axe asked "Where is it made?" Buy products that are made in the USA if you can. ?

A. Yes, this product is made in America. It's nice to see other people are also concerned with buying made in the The products we offer are superior, we do not employ child labor and there are no counterfeits. It is important to note that both Democrats and Republicans support products made in America!

The hatchet is made of what type of steel?

As a previous customer indicated, I have no reason to doubt 1055 if the company says it is. The axe is of excellent quality. I've owned it for a while and have found it to be very useful. It is a durable carbon steel that stands up well to shocks and impacts. There's no reason to downplay the cost of this steel, it shouldn't be that much more expensive than 420. I'm not sure why they'd even want to mislead on this In the event that they had claimed it was a more costly item This would be suspicious to me if it were an alloy 1, or a tool steel like D2 or M2.

The number 14 appears in the field. There were 9 ounces in the package. Does that fit the fiberglass handle hatchets? The majority of them seem to fall into that category. In the 4 to 5 ?

In my time of need, I weighed it accurately to 1/100 of an ounce when I received mine. This includes the included synthetic sheath, which weighs 30 grams. It weighs 05 oz without a sheath, and 28 oz with one. There is 45 ounces of water. To convert this to *1, multiply by 2. In 87 and 1, 3 or 4. These two weights are one pound apart. Therefore, as of 2016 Feb 07, the Product Description weight is 14, corresponding to its weight Despite the hatchet being 9 oz shorter than typical, it is completely wrong.

Can you tell me if this e24ase axe is made in the U.S. ?

Old manufacturing towns like Rockford, Illinois, date back to the early 20th century. Several miles down the road in Belvidere, IL, there is a Jeep plant. The Estwing axes are probably the best axes you can buy at a reasonable price, as they are among the last original manufacturers left during the Industrial Revolution.

A hatchet would have been more useful than an exercise in getting goo out
4/5

The hatchet is an excellent little tool, but the manufacturer needs to take some responsibility. Remove the stupid sticker and put goo gone on the handle to make sure that it isn't sticky with crap all the time. I have to take 15 minutes to take it off and on top of that I have to get other products to make sure that it doesn't get all sticky! Is it necessary? Where's the sticker? Exactly where the hatchet ought to be. While it may be the first time I have writes about it, I am certain that I am not the first person to get a hatchet and use it. I have also removed its As one would expect, the sticker does not come off in one piece, but falls into 50 pieces and needs to be scratched off with your nails. It only took a lot of time and effort to scrub the handle for it to be usable without sticky *** on it. It is a disgrace how poorly planned your events are. It needs to be fixed. This small piece of plastic, similar to those used on clothing with warning labels, is what one would find on a garment. The foil does its job with ease, comes off with no mess, and does the job. Take a moment to think! I'll tell you what the hatchet is. A solid foundation. Worked out. Has the ability to accomplish what is expected of it. You get stuck with sticky stuff other than that. It is of an appropriate size. Maintaining balance is key. The design is good. The person cuts the It is easy to store the hatchet safely in the sheath while being able to use the other side as a hammer for tent stakes or whatever you like. Buying it (along with a bottle of Goo Gone) will allow you to enjoy it, hassle, and sticky-ness while you still have them It is crud-like I am on your side. It is free to hold.

A total waste of time
3/5

It is severely disappointing to discover the lack of high quality that this axe is possessed of. Ign. In addition, I had ordered it to arrive JUST in time for my boyfriend's birthday, so to return it now merely to get another one would be pointless, takes away from the surprise and excitement of him even owning a throwing axe, and all around feels On the shaft of the blade itself there are gaps where the handle is forged onto it This is concerning because it's out there and it could snap off at any time and cause injury. This item comes with tons of chips in the detail and design on the handle, and the clear protective coating on it is also chipping all over. It looks like a total waste of money. The fact that I had him open this on his birthday makes me feel embarrassed. I am so upset about this purchase that I cannot put it into words.

Here are two before and after pictures
5/5

Upon receiving this, I decided to use 100 grit sand paper to remove the varnish on the handle, as suggested by one of the other reviewers. It took about three days for me to rub the Neatsfoot oil on it. The weight probably went up by about 20 lbs. The coats must be applied 30 times, so patience is required. Nonetheless, the results proved to be completely worth it. It is the difference in how it feels that makes a real difference, not the before and after pictures. I like how the handle feels comfortable in my hand and isn't nearly as slick.

It was a poor quality control job
3/5

This product is poorly made! When I opened the box, I knew what I was doing. I was excited to get this pretty axe, but unfortunately I needed to return A number of tiny chips are present on My size was barely 13" and the description said it was 14". A number of defects can be found on the leather handle, and the transparent clear coat is covered in hairs. I think this is a knock off, since it's decorated with Estwing stickers. After unbuttoning the case, you must pull the handle awkwardly through the small opening, which makes the entire case a joke. The only thing you can depend on is good reviews, I guess. My first stop is Home Depot, where I will see what's available.

This is awful
3/5

I used this hatchet for the first time since I bought it for less than 20 minutes on one trip. (Just from cutting wood, no accidental strikes on surfaces other than wood) and the bottom plate became loose almost instantly. Unfortunately, my return window has closed since I did not go camping shortly after purchasing it. Unfortunately, it was not as good as a hatchet my friend used from the same company. There is no point to this one and it is a Purchase it at your own risk.

Has it possibly been used or is it a This hatchet can never be approved by QC
3/5

The hatchet is considerably less powerful than the hatchet I bought before, but it's still a great hatchet! A crack wraps around the corner of the ax head, and the other cracks the edge as well. This handle has dark scuffs and is flaking off more readily than usual. Also, I ordered the 14 inch Hatchet, but it is only 12 3/4 inches long. In my experience, Estwing makes great tools, but I suggest purchasing a tool in person to avoid any of these problems.

As shown in the attached pictures, the blade of the axe has bleedings on it
3/5

These pictures show a revealing appearance of the axe's 'shades', which are unusual for it. A few cracks can be seen in the second picture as well. There is no telling how deep they may This could potentially cause the axe's blade to shatter as a result of the cracks. Those bystanders can be harmed, or you can be harmed! The manufacturer clearly makes an advantage of people that received faulty products by failing to return the product. All of us were too busy to axe up (including myself).

The particles are small, sticky, and My original intention was to get a small hatchet, but this is of no use
3/5

Since there is no weight in the head, chopping is difficult, and it would be even if it had a sharp blade, which it doesn't. Three stickers? I didn't think they would be such a big deal, but really? Is it possible to do this with the least amount of White streaks were left behind when Goof Off was used to remove them understand this was only a tool, but sheesh, I can tell that there was protective oil on the steel. This small saw is not capable of doing the yardwork I need it for. I need it to cut roots and branch out. The swing looks great and it fits in small spaces, however despite the design not giving the swing much power, I think it won't be much use. A backpack like this might be useful on a hike where weight is the deciding factor. When you get to your destination, you may need it to cut wood, but not for chopping wood.
