This is an excellent rod holder, but I wouldn't attempt to use it for secure rod storage.
The way the back end is built, I don't believe it would, based on the way the power is distributed.
The rodholder will not accommodate a Shimano baitcast reel with a low profile and allow the rod to pass through both ends flush. am having difficulty getting the rod end out of the ring as the rod end is stuck in the holder. In comparison to this one, the #279 seems to fit much better.

I would like to clarify first. A great deal of quality is found in Scottish fishing products. In this case, the seller's low rating is a reflection of their inaccurate information, specifically the "no mount" statement. the rod holder did not come with a "MOUNT", which is fine, but also with a "STEM", which is an important part of the rod holder, I would have ordered it differently. It was the "STEM" that wore out on my previous holder, rather than the "MOUNTS. " That is why I bought this. The "MOUNTS" are fine it was the "STEM" that went bad. Having nothing left to do with it, I have nothing to do with it. It was also not packaged in its original packaging. I think this is a bit of a scramble to sell pieces of goods on the seller's part. Please use the.
My wish would have been to have known, but now you know. Scotty's mount system is great for most applications, and I wanted to upgrade the rod holders on my aluminum Jon boat by using the Scotty mount system. After a lot of research, I found that this would be a good idea, so I printed out several mounting bases for the Scotty system and ordered them online As a result, the bases can fit less holders. My brand new Shimano SLX rod and reel combo fit perfectly into the holder until I put the rod in the There is no fit for that. It is due to the low profile of the reel that the rod cannot rest fully It is possible for me to force it in, but I would prefer not to. We both use baitcasters and spinning reels to catch fish. I use baitcasters, while my wife uses her spincasting reel. It fits my spinning and spincasting reels easily in the Scotty mount, so I will not send it back to you. There is a strong mounting bolt/clamp that works well for adjusting the holder. I think the baitcaster mounting system is a good idea, but it should work with multiple In general, I am not very satisfied with the rod holder, but I'll figure something out, even if I have to modify it.
On our new boat, there was only one rod holder and it was mounted to a deck mount by Cabela's. I ordered one of these Scotty Rod Holders instead of a Cabela's rod holder since I couldn't find any at Cabela's. The Scotty unit I ordered was the second I ordered. I have had several rod holders on boats before this one and it's one of the best I've used.
They are really good, come at a value price, and are large enough to fit rod handles that are over-sized. Having the rods and reels adjustable makes it easy to accommodate different fishing techniques, and the locking collars prevent you from having to swim around in the sea every time a blue or a flathead decides to take off with your expensive rod and reel.
Great product I have them on my boats for years and they are never damaged or worn out. My only time that I buy new ones is if I buy Old boats I used to own are never going to be allowed to be kept by their buyers.
A rod holder is required for my large spin cast combo (Zebco Boss Hawg) that I use for catfishing. It's easy to handle a large combo with this. An excellent rod holder that is very solid. It's not difficult to rotate in the gear head after a little practice. Using it for combos is also a good idea. I was able to use the 4000 reel with no problems.
A rod holder like this is "da bomb!" Among the things I liked most about this holder is that it is thickly made and more large than I expected. The rod holders can hold all my rods, even my fishing rods for the pier. The Scotty's product is excellent, and it comes at a great price! The boom goes five!.
This item looks like it was well thought out. The rod is held in place by an adjustable, slip lock. A rod can be held almost anywhere around the rod if it's large enough. If you are planning to use this product with a different mount, it's best to either buy the suggested mount for it or take the time to measure the mount to ensure that Mounts for pelicans cannot be attached to this item.
