There are 1 inches between the top of my pontoon rails and the ground. There was just enough room in this holder for a 75" computer. The frame is bulky and heavy, but the rails are Diddy.
Its hair cells are the only ones found in
The rod holders that I use come with bait casters and my rods have triggers as well.
Rod holders do a good job of connecting to the gunnel (side) of a boat. Our clamp was made of small blocks of wood to make it more sturdy. The pole would not be as effective as the ground.

This clamp is easy to use and easy to install, however, if you tighten the clamp too tightly, the pontoon rail will get dented. Had the drag locked down on my reel and hooked into a big striper and it pulled the rod out of the holder and into the depth. I had been using it for stripers on Lake Murray and had had the drag locked down on my reel (my fault). If I go fishing again, I'm going to buy a rod holder that locks around the pontoon rails instead of clamping on. Additionally, don't buy it on Amazon if you are planning to buy this holder. It is available for 20 bucks at a big box store website, which offers free delivery as well.
With my pontoon boat I have square tubing for the sides. My first step was to clamp the Eagle Claw rod holder to the square tubing and start Using my elbow, I bumped the holder, and it came loose. As a result, I moved it to a new location and clamped it even tighter. After hooking a weed and the reel and rod holder fell off, I lost the rod and reel as well. Just as it was headed for the river, I caught a few pieces of the mess. I discovered a place on the boat where the horizontal square tubing met the vertical square tubing for a mounting surface that had more surface area on my second trip out with these holders. It was so tight on the clamp that I was concerned about damaging it. As I was trolling, I snagged the bottom again and again the holder popped off, allowing me to catch it as it was reaching the bottom. Because I was unwilling to take a chance on loosing my gear again, I pulled the holders off my boat. As soon as I returned home, I reviewed my order status and found out that I could not return the holders I purchased because I was a few weeks past the 30-day return period. Therefore, a one-star rating will have to do.
There is a lot of strength in this rod holder. I was not expecting the clamp to be so large but it does the job well. If you're using it for a canoe, mine is an older Mohawk, you can see in the pictures that the clamp has a lot of room when tightened down and it does tighten down, making it impossible for it to move about. As I was initializing the install, I had the turn screw on the inside of the canoe. However, the holder twisted and it didn't sit right, so I moved it to the outside and it has worked much better since then. If you choose a lighter weight rod with a shorter handle like 7", this will be problematic for you. handle of the rod is 9" and fits snugly in the holder, just like the handle of my medium weight rod. It may wiggle out when used on the river or lake with a shorter handle. Holding the holder gives it a slight twist, which is accomplished by lifting it up slightly and turning it, then pushing it back down to lock it into Despite being a bit loose when sitting in the holder, the rods should stay where they are if you're fishing rivers or Take a look at the images.
A good rod holder can be improved through quality control, but this one is beyond reproach. The two I possess need to be taped together to act as shims to tighten up the fit in areas where the parts don't fit as tightly as they should. My boat's gunnel actually clamps down tightly on this device, so I think it is well made. As a customer, all I wish is to have a higher QUALITY of Fit, and especially to be properly fitted consistently. It is a considerable price, and for the price the quality of fit should be better.
Take into consideration your own needs when considering this review. The kayak paddle I purchased was to use in my canoe and I found it to be just adequate for that use. This is a very sturdy piece of equipment. A secure gunwale attachment keeps it in place. Large and bulky, it occupies a lot of space. mechanical process so that the casting rod is securely fastened to it and quickly removed is difficult at best. Upon installation, a rotating sleeve firmly locks the rod in place. It is necessary to rotate the rod in order to release it. There is no way to describe how difficult that is. As you can see, I think this holder is good for some purposes, but it does not work for me and I do not believe the price is worth it.
I bought this for use on my pontoon boat, and I'm happy with it. The railings can be moved anywhere on the deck. Love the design and the low price.
It attaches easily to boat rails, so it can be used on pontoons, and it can be moved anywhere on the boat with no tools needed. In the event that you catch a fish, the latch is not strong enough to keep your rod in place. It now functions as it should after I tied a zip tie around the latch.
Purchasing mine for my 14 was a good decision. It's a 6 Pelican DLX Canoe that I love. These spring time rockfish can be caught with the heavy duty construction of this fishing rod in a boat. However, since this does have quite a bit of room to tighten on the side of the canoe I simply cut a 1" piece of treated 5 1/4 wood from the same board and presto a Is there a chance I would I am sure I will do so once I have finished writing my honest opinion about.
