I'm a size eight. 5 - In different shoes, I'd be a 9. I had to get these in size 9 because I couldn't find them in any other size. The sides of the 5 and 9 were far too tight. This pair of shoes is TINY.
On the base, I run on asphalt. They're great for cleaning dirty surfaces. I've never tried them on a racetrack, but based on the aggressiveness of the treads, I believe they'd be too sticky.
Very soft, and it wears out quickly; after only two months and about 50 miles, the sole of my pair of Speedcross 4 showed signs of serious wear. Because these aren't cheap shoes, I'm a little disappointed.
As another customer pointed out, the shoes I ordered were 12 wide, and there was no option for 12E or 12D. The items I received did not have a wide fit. I also ordered the same shoe from Amazon in a different color and a medium width, all through their prime wardrobe. The shoes were all the same size, indicating that either the description was incorrect or that the incorrect size was sent.

I ordered a 13m because it was the only size available in a 13. I'm aware that my feet are wide, so they're a little snug. I ordered this shoe as a walking shoe, and after 5 miles, it fit perfectly. I walk 5- These shoes would be great if you were running 10 miles a day on asphalt, but they aren't designed for hard surfaces. The tread has a kleet-like aggressiveness to it. For trail runners, these would be ideal. I've put about 30 miles on the shoes so far, and the tread is showing significant wear due to extensive use on the asphalt, which is entirely my fault for not thoroughly researching the shoe before purchasing. I was enthralled by what I saw and purchased the item without hesitation. The purpose of this review is to inform potential buyers that the shoe is not suitable for use on hard surfaces. If you use them on a hard surface, the tread placement causes uncomfortable pressure points and friction spots on your feet. On the other hand, on the ground, these shoes provide excellent traction and are extremely light, making them an excellent choice for that environment. After three weeks, the shoes are nearly finished. Walking on asphalt alone is enough to make you feel dizzy.
This is without a doubt the most durable pair of shoes I've ever owned. Because the grip on my previous pair had worn flat, I purchased a new pair for hiking. I've logged thousands of miles on these on the Appalachian Trail and in South America, and they're still going strong as my construction work shoes. I've worn the bottoms out, but they're still going strong and are just as comfortable as my new pair, which I only wear when hiking because they still have grip. Wearing the grip off takes a long time. They saved my life while hiking up to Tolima in Columbia and through river gorges with boulders the size of houses. Muddy trail hiking and step terrain are where they really shine. I take them backpacking with 40 pound loads and they perform like the perfect boot I've always wished for. I'll never wear another brand of shoe, and I've hiked half of the Appalachian Trail and the majority of the trails in the Pisgah and Smoky Mountains in these, which are now my construction shoes. My father, as well as my fiancée, now owns a pair. Don't be hesitant to purchase them!.
This edition of the excellent review I had written of these shoes makes me very sad. They look great and feel great, but after the third day of training, one of them (the right shoe) started to deteriorate on the outside and the paint began to peel off, as if they were cheap, fake shoes. I'm not sure how it happened, and I'm not sure why they've deteriorated in this way after being used on a regular track; they're supposed to be mountain training shoes, after all. The previous pair lasted 4 years of daily use in harsh conditions, but these new ones only lasted a month before the "paint" was removed? So, what went wrong? Could the seller, or Amazon, explain this to me in accordance with their policies? Here's a photo that says it all. The shoes had not been subjected to even a fifth of what they should have been subjected to! Please respond as soon as possible.
However, because this shoe runs narrow, I ordered a wide, which turned out to be WAY TOO WIDE! Because of the narrow-mindedness of the brand, I'm surprised it hasn't put an end to this. ness of a WIDE was just too ridiculously narrow for that, even if it was a regular and not a wide. So, if you know you have narrow feet, go for a wide pair and you should be fine. The regular should not be purchased. I'm sure the regular couldn't hold a hot dog if the wide is that narrow!.
I usually run longer triathlons, including Iron Man distances, and so I wear a standard running shoe. After my last triathlon, I decided to run a 14-mile Spartan obstacle race at the last minute this year. I didn't think about what I was going to wear for the race until the week before the race because I had never run one or even seen one. As I read more about the race, it kept mentioning all of the mud and water, as well as what kind of racing gear was best. So I started looking into shoes, socks, and shorts, and came across the Salomon Speedcross 4 shoes, which came highly recommended. They arrived three days before the race after I ordered them. I've been running for years and know that changing gear in the days leading up to a race, let alone the day of a race, is never a good idea, but I was confident that running 14 miles of trails through mud and water would not be enjoyable in my usual running shoes, so I decided to give them a try and see what happened. So, on race day, I lubed up my feet with tri-athlete lube. I glided into my Hoplite compression socks (which came highly recommended) and prepared for the race. Walking around in the shoes felt very comfortable and stable, but it wasn't until I got into the race that I realized why these shoes are so highly rated. The fit and feel were very similar to my regular shoes when the trail was flat. They were fantastic when I arrived in the mud! The traction was incredible both entering and exiting each mud pit, mud hill, water feature, pond, creek, or whatever else you could think of. On dry ground, both going up and down hills, I never slipped or slid (most everyone else around me was slipping badly), and the more confident I became in the shoes, the faster I went and still had no issues. On the steep descents, I was passing people left and right because I had better grip than they did. My feet felt comfortable and my traction was very secure throughout the entire race, which included at least seven water crossings. My feet were probably the only thing that didn't hurt at the end of 14 miles and 35 obstacles, and I attribute that to my Salomon shoes.
