Questions & Answers

Is it true that these shoes run extremely narrow, thus the wide and xtra wide designations?

People with wide and extra wide feet should choose the wide and extra wide sizes. You'd be able to tell if you could wear wide shoes.

Were these shoes produced in a limited quantity? Why is it so difficult to locate the hierro in a 12 wide area?

I have two pairs of 13w GoreTex boots. In May 2021, there will be a new non-GoreTex version.

So they're non-slip in wet weather and on restaurant floors?

They're not for road running, but they're excellent for trail running. They are not prone to slipping in mud and dirt.

The shoe is extremely comfortable and long-lasting
5/5

I've used NB Fresh Foam before and believe it provides the best support and cushion. I purchased the Hierro, specifically this V5, for the Fresh Foam, as well as other design choices. The sole is a fantastic'multi-purpose' piece of footwear. It's a great choice for all surfaces all year long. I used to have a NB 1080. Because of the vibram sole and other design choices, the Hierro is a better fit for me. The forefoot (or ball of my foot) has more mid cushioning than the 1080s, so I don't feel as if I'm leaning in towards my toes. The Fresh Foam midsole is more evenly distributed throughout the forefoot. It is also more durable than the 1080s due to the TPU coating (so a plastic coating) over a still breathable mesh outer fabric. For me, the toe protection is also a big plus. It's a rubber that's extremely tough, solid, and textured. For me, that's the first part of the shoe to wear out. So, compared to the 1080 series, the Hierro V5 is a very comfortable, light shoe with long-lasting improvements. I went with the grey and blue color scheme, and it turned out beautifully. Overall, this is a well-designed shoe that simply works. You will not be disappointed whether you use it for running, trail running, gym workouts, or as an all-day walker!.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE SHOES FOR YOU IF YOU LIKE THE FOLLOWING AS MUCH AS I DO
3/5

IN THE EVENT THAT YOU LIKEbr>br>- Ascents/descents that are steepbr>- Agility, agility, and even more agilitybr>- Running on actual "trail" rather than flat grass/dirtbr>- 4mm and lower drops (Hierro V5 is 8mm)br>br>PROS:

- AS A PREVIOUS REVIEWER STATED, THERE IS NO STABILITY, BUT MY FEET DO APPRECIATE IT. box of toes I have wide feet, and yes, I did tighten the laces as well, but they slide around too much with minimal structural support. When dealing with 15 degree grades, there is a noticeable lack of stability.

- GRIP: On dirt/rock trails, I give these a 6 out of 10. Wearing my Hierro V2 model with the same Vibram megagrip bottom significantly reduced my confidence in bombing down hills.

- WEIGHT: Although the shoes aren't particularly heavy, the weight distribution is unusual. The upper mesh is extremely light and flimsy, and the majority of the weight is concentrated in the sole; it feels like I'm running in sneakers with VHS tapes attached to the bottom. Strange, to say the least. br>br>FINAL REMARKS: br>br>   br>br>These shoes are fashionable as well as practical. There is a lot of cushion, which is why, in my opinion, they do well with high ratings for the average customer. br>br>I understand these are categorized as "Light trail" and are not intended for rugged use, so if you're going for a stroll in the park, light to moderate hiking/walking, or just going about your daily activities, I can see this being suitable. br>br>I have the Hierro V2 (also known as "Light trail") with the same Vibram megagrip bottom that has 200 miles on it and has been used to trail run three times in a row. (1,400 ft elevation / 3-mile radius) In Arizona, there are four of them (4 miles each). I had zero confidence in the V5's ability to complete these short runs in a timely manner, let alone go 10 miles in comfort as it was designed to do, but then again, this is me.   br>br>Wish I could say I loved these because I'm a New Balance fan, but I'm afraid I'll have to return them. I upgraded to the Saucony Mad River TR with a 4mm drop, and they fit, look, and perform like a dream.  .

They're grippy and cushioned, and they're stylish
5/5

These are the shoes I wear on a daily basis when I go for walks or hikes. I ordered a size 10, but there is some extra room at the toe, so I should have ordered a size 9. They have excellent cushioning for the heel strike. Even on wet surfaces, they have excellent traction. The tongue design, which is only open on one side, is the only thing I dislike about it. This results in a lace-up that isn't quite right. However, they are so attractive that I am willing to overlook this flaw.

These are fantastic, but I'm thinking about chopping off the tail
5/5

I'm sure there's a reason for the tail on the back of these shoes, but I haven't spent the time to find out what it is. I won't be running through the woods or competing in an adventure race with them. In the Pacific Northwest, I prefer trail running shoes as an everyday sneaker; the tail is an annoyance when driving, but I wouldn't deduct a star for it. br>br>After decades of wearing Asics, I think I'm a convert. Not only has Asics' fit been inconsistent in the last three or four Nimbus generations, but I recently had a bad customer service experience after one of their shoes fell apart very quickly (it was a specialty field cleat purchased on Amazon, and they refused to honor the warranty because they claimed Amazon was not an authorized retailer). br>br>Let's get back to the NB's. They are, without a doubt, unsightly. There are no brownie points with the wife or friends, but they do have more all-around experience. day comfort than my Nimbuses or any of the previous two generations of Wave Runners (which I prefer to the Nimbuses on occasion). The fact that 2E means 2E is the cherry on top. As a result, if there are any other D-types, These get the job done without being obscenely wide and sloppy, which is just a tad too narrow for your big man feat. Oh, and because it's one of my biggest pet peeves when people on the internet can't seem to agree on what a wide shoe means (e. g. I've seen people applaud for a shoe's incredible width, but it ended up feeling like a vice clamp on my feet), so I'll specify that the widest measurement of my forefoot, taken with a calibrated digital caliper, is exactly 101mm. My foot measures 11 inches in length. The length is 125 inches. The size 12 2E is a perfect fit (perfect = not too tight, but not too loose).

It's time to invest in a brand
5/5

Very nice shoe, I think I'll stick to buying this brand from now on because it fits perfectly and looks great. NB produces a high-quality shoe, particularly in the $60 price range. BTW, I wear these shoes for 8 hours at work and have had no problems with them; they are comfortable and provide a pleasant walk even after that time. br>I'm a 10 in size. a 5-foot athletic foot, and a 10-foot athletic foot The size 5 regular is ideal.
