Questions & Answers

What country does it come from?

My country of origin is China.

How do these shoes perform on concrete when hiking in the city? The majority of other shoes cause a jarring effect on the heels and low back. I'm a size 12d woman. What is the difference between regular and ee? Thank you very much. ?

Because these shoes are so impact-absorbent, I'm on my feet all day on concrete floors, and they've made a huge difference in my knees. The traction is fantastic as well, drastically reducing slipping on icy or wet surfaces.

Is there any goretex in this show, as shown in the product image?

Yes, but I'm having a problem with my new shoes, which I bought in September and the insides are falling apart! I've contacted the company to have them replaced!

Do you have these and wear insoles if you have flat feet? Is it something you'd suggest?

Yes! In the Speedcross 5 Wides, I wear Superfeet insoles because I have flat feet. I use them for golf in certain conditions as well as trail running.

Before they change them, make sure you have plenty of supplies
5/5

The Speedcross is my favorite trail shoe because of the grip and protection it provides. I began breaking in my final pair of SC4s on Friday. I started breaking in my first pair of SC5's on Sunday. The 5s were unbelievably comfortable, even after the 4s had softened my heels. You won't understand unless you have at least 5 pairs of shoes in your rotation; wides have a tiny bit more toebox space. There is a significant distinction.

Stability and width of the shoes are important considerations
3/5

The shoe is well-made and of high quality. Solomon's shoes, unfortunately, all appear to be too small. I placed an order for a 9. I chose 5 WIDE because I thought I'd have plenty of room in the toe box. Not so. My big and little toes are compressed when I wear narrow shoes, which causes issues (bunions, calluses, pain, thickening of the toenails, imbalance, and so on). This shoe also has a high center of gravity and is unstable, making rolling an ankle while trail running very easy. I'm sorry, Solomon, but I'm docking one star because you advertised this shoe as WIDE when it's actually NARROW by industry standards. Please let me know if you sell a shoe that is truly wide. I'll put it through its paces and report back. I also used a high-quality shoe stretcher, which helped a little. As a result of the toe-in Because the box is not overly stiff, it will most likely stretch with use, but your feet will suffer as a result. I hope this has been of assistance.

Not wide enough; you should size up; SC3 is preferable
3/5

I'll try to stay as brief as possible. If you need a wider shoe, look for something else or take your time breaking these in. br>br>I've had the Speedcross 3s and 4s and wanted to try the 5s because they come in a wide (not true wide (EE)). As most of you are aware, the Speedcross standard sizing is narrower and runs slightly smaller. br>br>If you really want the Speedcross in "wide," get the 3s and size up a half size (if available). Despite not being listed as EE, the 3s appear to be a little wider. The Speedcross 3s stretch and break in a lot better than the Speedcross 4s. However, the soles on the 4s and 5s are much more durable and have much better grip. My 4s lasted a long time, but I prefer the comfort of the 3s because I have wide feet and they seem to stretch out better than the 4s. br>br>As an example, consider the following image: The 5s is on the left, while my old 3s is on the right. When comparing the 3s and the 5s, notice how much wider the narrowest section on the 3s is. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> These do have a lot of stretch to them! I didn't like them as much as the 3s, but they were still comfortable for the most part; I'm giving them 3 stars because they aren't breathable. Yes, Gortex isn't the best in that regard, but these are terrible! In Yosemite, I hiked Half Dome (17 miles) and noticed sweat marks on the top side seam of my shoes halfway through. Moisture was caught in a trap and couldn't get away. br>br>I got a couple of blisters, but they weren't too bad. The main issue was that my foot's bottom pad was "soggy" the entire time, as if it had been in water; next time, I'll just bring an extra pair of socks or save these for much shorter trips.

I've decided to stop wearing Salomon shoes, even the ones labeled as Wide, because I wish I could fit into these incredible boots, but Salomon wide is really just regular width, which does not work for me or many others
3/5

Many Salomon candidates have arrived at my door via Prime, only to be returned due to insufficient last width. However, as a shoe nerd, I must say that the Speedcross 5 are magnificent, with aggressive lugs, exquisite craftsmanship, attention to detail, premium materials, and cutting edge design and engineering (although the stack is a bit high by some standards). It's difficult to give the shoes three stars because they're advertised as wide but aren't.

You are unstoppable! Nonetheless, it is extremely comfortable
5/5

Sizing is a real pain! I just took these out on the trails for the first time today, and they are fantastic. Stable and close to the water Treads that grip anything and are well-footed. In a low hiker (not a mid or high hiker), I've never felt so powerful. I use these for mountain biking, and they're very comfortable and grippy on the pedals, and they're even better when you have to get off the bike, thanks to the speed laces. These aren't particularly heavy, but they're also not particularly light. To me, they appear to be ordinary. br>br>Warning: Salomon's sizing is not for the faint of heart. The width of their regular shoes is ridiculously narrow. At first, I bought my regular size, but they were too tight for me. They're so small that they look like they're made for children. The treads were a half inch narrower than those on my wife's sneakers! So I returned them and ordered a wide size for the first time in my life--I'd never purchased a wide pair of shoes before. But I'm happy to report that they're a perfect fit. If your feet are normal, you will need the wide size; however, if your feet are narrow, you may be able to fit into the standard shoes. And you're probably out of luck if you have wide feet in the first place. These shoes are not wide, but they are labeled as such!br>br>I've only worn them once so far, but I'm in love. No break- in is necessary. Of course, I can't speak to their durability, but they had better last for the price I paid.
