A waterproof rubberized area runs along the bottom of the shoe, about an inch above the sole, and around the entire shoe. Above that, the shoe is made of a breathable fabric called Gore-Tex, which I believe is Gore-Tex. Tex.

I bought this shoe to run on gravel trails. I used it on an easy/intermediate hiking trail to test the comfort, and they were so comfortable that I could have hiked for an entire day. I don't hike because I'm afraid of snakes, but I recently had second thoughts about my fear because of a shoe. That's right, the shoe was that great. I went down a slick, steep section and only slipped because I leaned forward the first time; the second time, I was more confident, and these shoes really gripped the slippery, steep trail that had flattened from use. The grips are moving up and down. Because I wear thick socks and insoles, I ordered a size larger. This shoe is simple to clean and wipe clean.
This is ideal for mountain trail running because of the high back portion that extends above your heel and behind your ankle. It forms a tight fit around your ankle, ensuring that fewer rocks, thorns, and sharp grass enter your shoe. There is a lot of cheatgrass here, which has these sharp seeds that stick through your socks, get down inside your shoes, poke through most mesh materials and end up stabbing their way through mesh and into your shoes, but none of them have gotten through these or ended up getting down inside through the ankle area. Because there are no flat areas to run on out here, everything is either an incline or a decline, and these sneakers stay on tight and don't slip off like most other sneakers.
The main reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that they are 100% thin lightweight plastic and feel like they won not last for a long time. Wear them away from a campfire; even a small ember will turn them into napalm.
Because they were so narrow, I had to send them back. I've never had to buy "wide" shoes before, but my feet were bulging out the sides in these. The length was ideal, and the seam connecting the tongue to the bottom of the shoe rubbed the sides of my foot, causing blisters if I had tried to make these work. These would have been my first New Balance shoes, so maybe they run their shoes a little narrower than I'm used to?.
Check out multiple reviews to see if there's a flaw in the design. PROS: br>I'm a wide 14 and these fit perfectly. br>Very comfortable and lightweightbr>Most comfortable work shoe I've ever bought. and I've been on a roll with some great shoes that I haven't been able to repurchase due to my shoe size. br>br>CONS: br>It's a fantastic appearance. However, it appears that the design is not long-lasting. On the inner toe, there is a layer of skin-like material that started to split not long after purchase. Unless I was given a defective pair, it appears to be a defect on both shoes. It stopped testing fairly quickly, but if you choose to wear it on a regular basis, it would be a bad look for a great-looking shoe. Because mine was for work, it worked out perfectly. Because there is another layer of fabric beneath whatever is peeling, it isn't a big deal.
I'm a bit of a shoe aficionado. When I'm out and about, I'm always looking at other people's footwear. I've owned the best of every brand, and I've owned New Balance on and off, and they've always been good but not great. With these shoes, that's no longer the case. New Balance has improved their shoes in a number of ways. To begin with, the Fresh Foam is incredibly light and comfortable. They've also created a stylish heel that's both comfortable and long-lasting. They're much easier to put on thanks to the heal, and they fit like a sock thanks to the mid-sock-like liner. They're extremely comfortable and supportive, and I've had a couple of pairs that have truly changed my life. That was the case with the original Nike Air Max sneakers. Some Hokas (particularly the Bondi model) unquestionably altered the game. These are the most recent WOWs that I've created. shoes. They're absolutely incredible. This model from New Balance is legendary. I'm hoping it joins the rest of the company's legacy footwear. That's one of my favorite things about New Balance: they stick to what works.
New Balance provides good forefoot and heel protection, but the shoe lacks ankle support because the shoelace eyelids do not extend as far back as most running or trail shoes, making it impossible to tie the shoe in a way that snugly fits your ankles. The shoes perform well when walking in the dirt or mud, but they slip and slide on gravel fire roads and grass. Overall, this isn't a bad trail shoe, but it's not New Balance's best effort.
but only after it has been laced up This shoe was made for me - it was the perfect fit. However, only after it has been laced up. They're not the kind of shoe you can just slip on and off; you'll have to carefully insert your foot and secure the tongue seam on the sides - that was brought up in a previous post - You'll be able to tell how well they fit once you've done that. br>br>I'm not sure how well they'd hold up to serious running or trail use because they're not on the same level as Brooks or other high-end brands, but NB appears to have found a niche as a mid-priced option. level standout, and the wides, which I require, are, of course, the main attraction.
As with any new balance, it's very comfortable. I ordered a size 9 wide and they are perfect. In the last three days, I've only logged about 25 miles on them. My feet are prone to blisters, but after an 8-mile day, half of which was downhill, I only got one on the ball of my foot. I haven't yet come into contact with any water, but I'm curious how well these will drain with the plastic around the mesh's edges. They're light and bouncy, and I'm planning on wearing them for a lot of backpacking this season (I'm only now learning that hiking boots are no longer appropriate).
