Questions & Answers

If you submerge them in water, do they dry quickly? I walk through water on occasion during my hikes. I don't need anything waterproof; all I want is something that dries quickly. ?

For trail runners, I believe they will dry quickly. They aren't all mesh, so there will be some drying time, but they will drain quickly.

Is there a policy for returns?

I'm not sure, but switching to Geico helped me save a lot of money on my auto insurance.

I've had about 5 pairs of lone peaks and they've all worked out fine. I had heel blisters after a mile on the last two pairs (before the 5); has this been fixed?

For the past month, I've been walking 3 ml every day in these shoes. There were no issues that I encountered. A second pair is on the way.

I'm aware that the sizes of the various versions differed. My 11 is one of my favorites. 4us altra lone peak 5us altra lone peak 5us altra lone peak 5 0's. Is the size of these the same?

Yes, the same goes for me.

It's a Hit-or-Miss situation
3/5

AGAIN! Lone Peak 4, Timp 1 was my previous possession. Superior 4, and 5th. The wide toe box in all of these shoes made them a perfect fit. Finding shoes that aren't too tight or sloppy fitting is difficult for me because I have a wide toe box, a high instep, and a narrow heel. The best shoe I ever owned was the Timp 1. For some reason, Altra has abandoned its generous toe box and returned to producing shoes like the rest of the industry. The Lone Peak 4 is something I've tried before. 2, Timp 5 Olympus 4, and 0 0 had hoped to find the same fit, but had been unsuccessful. The toe boxes on all of these shoes are narrower, pinching my toes. To compare my Timp 1 and Timp 2, I used a measuring tape. Lone Peak gets a 5 for these. 0 and the width difference is a full quarter inch! When I contacted Altra customer service, they assured me that the Lone Peak 5 would be delivered. 0 would revert to the wide toe box fit of the original. When I got my gorgeous red Lone Peak 5, I was so disappointed. 0s. Not only was the toe box too small, but the lace-up portion near my toes is now pinching as well. They now have a Wide version that may help, but it's only available in the obnoxious Blue/Lime colorway. Is this really the best you can do, Altra? I'm so dissatisfied that I'm forced to look for a new job.

This is for the skeptics! This shoe is fantastic for people who have flat feet
5/5

I've been wearing low and zero drop shoes for a while now, and after trying out about 6 different brands, I've decided that these are my favorite. (Boots are not included. ) There's plenty of support despite the lack of a heel counter, plenty of room for toe splay, and plenty of grip for trails. It's a little too much for in-town walking, but it's still comfortable. br>br>I'm not sure about the heel rubbing blisters yet; I walked around in these for a few hours and didn't notice any hot spots or pinching. With a thin but still padded tongue, this shoe is very breathable. It's supple without being overly spongy, with plenty of support (I'm 5'10 235 size 12). 5 shoe). br>br>If you're looking for a light-weight, grippy trail/hiking shoe, these are a good option.

Size Fail 5: Unfortunate Size Altra shoes are my favorite because they're the only company that makes foot-friendly footwear that I'm aware of
3/5

Runners' trail shoes that are shaped in a specific way. All other high-end products My favorite running brands squish my toes or have excruciating arch support; however, The Lone Peak 5 is far too long. Although it's difficult to tell from the photo, the standard width in the United States is 11 inches. In comparison to my 4 and 4, 5 is simply too long. Was the extra length to keep the big toe from rubbing against the top of the toe box intentional? Is it possible that the addition of the wide model threw the factory in Vietnam's measurements off? I'm not sure, but I'm a standard US size 11 for me. When it comes to the LP5, a 5 is half a size too big. br>br>As soon as I stood in the living room with this shoe on, I could feel the bottom of my foot sliding in it, which was not good. I tightened the laces and moved around, using all available eyelets. As I moved around, the laces loosened, revealing my second issue with these shoes: That enormous ankle gap. Please take note of my numbers four and four. Each of the five has logged hundreds of miles and has been thoroughly tested. The LP5, on the other hand, is brand new and has a much larger opening than the King MT 2 (probably the coolest shoe with a Velcro strap you've ever seen). I'm not going to be slipping and sliding on the trails in these. br>br>In comparison to previous models, the Ego felt noticeably more responsive and springy. br>br>I could go down a half-size to an 11, but then I'm worried about how tight the midfoot would be, because the LP5 has significantly more midfoot support than the 4 or even the 4. I believe I will return these and cut into the heels of a brand new pair of 4s. br>br>Altra DID get rid of the Achilles heel-destroying upper tab that sullied the 4 (as should all running/hiking companies). There are no complaints about comfort or hot spots, which is a plus for some. I'd go red if I had these LP5 again. Just thought I'd mention it.

I've Never Worn a More Comfortable Shoe
5/5

The Lone Peak 5 is the most advanced version of the Lone Peak line to date. I got on the Lone Peak bandwagon because I enjoy hiking, but after experiencing how comfortable they are, I began wearing them as work shoes as well, and it was a game changer! This is the only shoe that allows me to stay on my feet all day without becoming numb in the toes. My feet, in fact, are still in great shape after an 8-hour shift at work. It's a joy to hike with them. It's almost as if I'm not wearing any at all. The toe box performs as expected, allowing my toes to spread naturally with each step. br>br>Compared to the 4, the Lone Peak 5 has a few enhancements. 5, as well as previous iterations. The 4. The back of the shoe on the 5 was angled, which was not present on the 4. It would irritate my Achilles tendon by rubbing on the back of my ankle. I'm pleased to report that the 5's have returned to their original shape, so this is no longer an issue. In addition, compared to previous versions, the new EGO midsole provides noticeably more cushioning and shock absorption during each step. In addition, the overall construction appears to be more durable. If you're new to Lone Peaks, the key features I like about this shoe are 1) the wide toe box, which provides excellent comfort, 2) the ultra light weight, which allows you to hike more efficiently and cover more ground, 3) the MaxTrac outsoles, which provide excellent trail traction, and 4) the removable insoles, which you can replace with custom insoles for an even better experience (I use these with Dr. Scholl's work insoles at work). br>br>As a diabetic, I'm grateful to Altra for putting on such a show. My feet have never felt better, and I sleep soundly at night knowing that they are assisting me in avoiding foot injuries with each step. Last but not least, I usually wear a size 8 sneaker. I would recommend going a half size up based on the reviews I read, especially if you're wearing thick socks. I've been using version 8 for quite some time now. They're a size 5 and they're just right.
