I'm almost 85 years old and had a fall a month ago, so my physical therapist recommended a balance pad, which I purchased online. Physical therapy was prescribed by my internist, and I enjoy completing the exercises. As my proprioception improves, the balance pad adds a new dimension to the exercises by allowing me to better understand where I am in space.
I bought this to kneel on when doing yoga because I have a knee replacement and can't kneel on the floor or a thin mat, and it worked fine; however, if you need to work on balance while standing, it's very firm, and I'd think the Airex brand would be better (I'm a PT, so I've had some experience with this).
It provides just the right amount of support and cushion, without being too hard or solid. It does not easily "bend" and the edges/corners do not pill. I would definitely buy from them again.
When I first bought the pad, I used it with sneakers on and it quickly became worn out. The two I currently own are only worn with socks or barefoot, and they perform admirably in both situations. The pads are sturdy, but they won't last as long as a Theraband if you plan to wear sneakers; in that case, spend the extra cash. If you understand the limitations, this is a good value for the money.
Switch out the logos and no one would ever know it wasn't the Airex Brand balance pad. br>I'm glad I bought it, and I'll buy another one in the future.
My review is based on the fact that this is my first balance pad. It appears to be large enough for me to accomplish my goals. My chiropractor recommended that I incorporate it, as well as a balance disk, into my existing workout routine. I'm discovering new uses for it. Buying is something I strongly suggest. As I previously stated, this is my first, but it appears to be well-made and durable, and it does the job. There is also no odor. There's also an information sheet with some ideas for what you can do with it. It's fairly firm, so if your balance isn't great, this would be a good alternative to an inflatible diak.
It's true that you get what you pay for, I suppose. br>br>After reading a couple of reviews claiming that this item was identical to the Airex balance pad, I decided to give it a shot. br>It is unquestionably not the same. I use the Airex at the gym several times a week and have grown accustomed to its feel, which I would describe as a firm Tempur-Pedic mattress. Pads for your feet If you're looking for something to help you re-energize, this pad is much more firm and springy, and it doesn't provide the same level of side-to-side instability. (For example, after a concussion) improve your balance. br>br>On the plus side, it's about a third the price of the name brand, and I'll use it as a kneeling pad in the garage or garden if nothing else.
The ability to do physical therapy at home after an MPFL reconstruction is a big plus. It's AMAZING how much time passes between sessions. This is a very high-quality product. It's a good foam pad because it's almost identical to what you'd find at a physical therapist's office. It's a little easier to balance at first, but as you get used to it, it gets easier. Let's just say it'll be an entirely new experience.
