Pine shavings are a common chicken-keeping staple, but they aren't the cleanest way to absorb waste and smell. We're temporarily using them while we decide on a better material for the interior of our hen house. Pine shavings are also available for $5 per bag at Tractor Supply Company. This is far too expensive, but if you require delivery, go ahead and order it.
UNDER $8! It's entirely my fault for making an impulsive purchase. . . I'm disappointed, but I won't make the same mistake twice! I'm always so pleased with Amazon and their prices, but this reminded me that not all prices can be beat.
It's the first time I've ever raised baby chicks. They're in a big tote that I have. I used rabbit pine chips for this project. It seemed to work well to me. But I'm constantly replacing it. Because it is a much larger bag, I ordered it from Amazon. I cleaned their tote and filled it with two inches of these shavings. They're shaved down to a more manageable size. After two days, there was no need to clean out the tote. I tossed in a few more handfuls of shavings after stirring them up. There is no order in our guest bathroom because the chicks are there. The shavings appear to be popular with the ladies as well. Every now and then, I see one of them running with a piece while the other chases after it. cute.
The scent isn't overpowering. It took some time to figure out what my Chinchillas like, and they prefer pine shavings to the other options available at the store. We go through them quickly because I use small totes for litter boxes, which keeps the mess contained. I replace it twice a week, so I need to purchase this bale, which is the best quality for the money and lasts a long time.
So far, my guinea pigs' favorite bedding. You can't smell the l droppings or urine; all you can smell is the pine, which smells wonderful and reminds you of the smell of rain. 🥰🥰.
This is a fantastic product that chickens and ducks prefer to straw or newspaper. Even when damp from droppings, it's simple to sweep up. The bag's volume is ideal for my entire coop of 10 chickens, and it lasts about a year. 5 weeks.
I had to replace the bedding for my Guinea pigs. It's a lot better and a lot less expensive than the overpriced paper bedding.
I use it as a litter box for my mini pigs, and it's worked out perfectly so far.
