Questions & Answers

How much dust do you have?

I haven't noticed any dust in the air or in the enclosures, but there are obvious signs of dust in the storage bin. But I think this is still too dusty for small rodents like mice.
I am not sure how they calculate this to be 99% Dust free. Isn't it still 2 if they go by how much there is? 26L of dust?br>I doubt it, but a part of me wants to measure the dust in the unopened 113L bag.

Is it safe for guinea pigs to eat it?

Guinea Pigs should only be given aspen shavings. Pine and cedar should never be used. They will perish as a result of the oils.

Is this suitable for mice?

Yes, you can use it if it has been kiln dried, but it will not be as soft or fluffy. For your rats, I recommend using a soft paper crumble (I use Carefresh or SoPhresh), and for my chickens, I used this Aspen bedding.

I ordered the two-pack (226L), but all I got was one 113 L pack with a two-pack barcode sticker on it. So, what do I do now?

Contact the seller by sending an email. If you paid that amount, the amount was correct; however, if you paid more, I would definitely ask for a partial refund from the seller.

Selected User Reviews For Small Pet Select Aspen Bedding

This product produces an obnoxious amount of dust, which coats everything in its vicinity
3/5

My husband and I can barely breathe with two air filters near the cage because everything got covered in dust while we were putting it in the cage, and I feel terrible being in the room with the dust because we are gagging and can't breathe. It's not worth it to have your health jeopardized for this price.

It's great, but it has lice and mites
4/5

Read on to learn how to sanitize your bedding. Okay, so this bedding is great for keeping rats and mice from stinking up the place, but it is extremely dusty. BUT THIS BEDDING DOES HAVE LICE/MITES IN IT. So I'll include instructions on how to sanitize it. br>br> This is a great deal for two, and with Prime, you get free shipping. If you buy this product frequently or are new to this product, knowing this information is important. br>br>Bake this bedding in an oven safe pan at 250°F for 5 hours, killing eggs, larvae, and adults. Alternatively, bedding can be frozen for up to 48 hours. br>br> Eggs, larvae, and adults are all killed in this process. br>br>After I did this, my rats were no longer infested with lice. I hope this information is useful to those who own small animals.

A fantastic product from an even better company! In the world of small animals, there are only a few trusted names
5/5

SPS is a highly regarded company. I bought this product to get a small amount of Aspen to try out in my 2ft by 6ft by 6ft by 6ft by 6ft by 6ft by 6ft by 6ft by 6ft by 6ft Cage for guinea pigs that is 5 feet tall. Not only was I able to completely fill the cage with less than a quarter of the bag, but I was also able to add a layer to the buns' litter boxes! Sherlock enjoyed nibbling on the pieces that fell on the floor, and knowing that it is straight from the tree and not full of strange chemicals gives me peace of mind letting him. Even the difficult-to-please Tribble, the unimpressed Voldemort, and the shambolic Neville Longbottom were impressed. Nimbus, the pellet litter's manufacturer, approved of a nice layer of shavings on top of their product. Maybe it's the wonderful natural scent of Aspen! (There isn't a whiff of pine or cedar here!) ) The pigs, Rot and Geist, were ecstatic with the quality, chewing and popcorning like I'd never seen these two shy boys popcorn before! This is a product that I will definitely buy again in the future! All I need are their glowing testimonials!.

It's impossible to beat the price, and it keeps both my pets and me happy
5/5

I've had guinea pigs and other small rodents for as long as I can remember, and I've experimented with a variety of bedding. With one hedgehog and four guinea pigs, I'm always on the lookout for bedding that is absorbent, odor-controlling, and most importantly, safe. Because I buy it frequently, it is reasonably priced. br>I keep coming back to this product because it offers two large blocks of bedding for the price of one, and it lasts a long time (which is crucial). It's fairly absorbent and helps with odor (I clean the cages once a week). Nothing will completely eliminate odor, but this is the best I've gotten so far. Due to the sensitive respiratory systems of both guinea pigs and hedgies, the bedding options are limited. Any products with a strong odor (such as cedar) are prohibited. So. Unless they come up with a self-contained system, that is. System that cleans and is odorless (no). lol. For my pets, I will use this product.

Excellent product at a great price! We have two guinea pigs and go through a lot of bedding, so being able to buy it in bulk rather than running to the pet store every week is very convenient
5/5

The quality of this bedding is far superior to that of a pet store. Timothy hay comes in a 20-pound box for me, and it's always green and fresh. The hay is a favorite of piggies. It's clear that this is a small family business that genuinely cares about small animals.

Not too dusty, easy to clean, and good odor control
5/5

It allows my snakes to burrow and tunnel while remaining easily cleanable. Even if they spill their water, the area becomes wet, but it is simple to clean up with a paper towel and dry out the wet spot. The water does not soak through to the bottom of the substrate, as it does with some other substrates.

It's a little dusty, and there are some wood chunks, but it absorbs well and lasts a long time
5/5

My piggies and I both enjoy it. I occasionally come across dark wood chunks, but they're easy to spot because there are only a few. This is the only bedding I'll ever use; it's the best, and you shouldn't go with anything less! It's also something my piggies enjoy nibbling on now and then.

Very soft and dust-free, but with a foul odor
3/5

This bedding was very soft and pleasant to the touch, with no dust, but when I opened the bag, there was a strong rubber odor. I gave it 24 hours to dissipate before putting it in a clean cage with my rats, but the odor only got worse. I'll be returning it. When I contacted the company, they stated that there should be no odor. I'm placing another order to see if I received a bad batch, as I've had bad luck with a variety of brands in the past. I'm hoping for the best with the next batch.
