Once a week, I wash the liner in our utility sink or outside with a hose. Then I wash with white vinegar and a dye-free detergent in the washing machine.

Is this cage required to be used? Is it possible to use a cage from a different company?

Simply compare the size dimensions of the various sizes (listed in the description) and choose the one that fits your cage the best.

This is the last guinea pig bedding you'll ever need
5/5

I've been using my GuineaDad 2 for a while now. I've been using 0 fleece liners for about a month and am very pleased with them. I tried paper bedding, puppy pads, and fleece blankets with Uhaul furniture blankets underneath, and every single one of them had a major flaw. Paper bedding is both wasteful and costly, as well as difficult to clean. Puppy pads are extremely dangerous because guinea pigs enjoy chewing on them, resulting in impactions. Fleece blankets and furniture pads must be cut to fit the cage (or else you'll end up with a lumpy, misshapen folded blanket), they may not be absorbent if not properly prepared, and vacuums sucking up the fleece. It took a lot of courage to join GuineaDad because it's such a big financial commitment up front, but it's well worth it. br>br>The liners are made specifically for my Midwest cage; They're a little bigger, which I like because it allows for possible shrinkage during washing and drying. The liners are so thick and plush, perfect for delicate little pig feet, and have a waterproof bottom to keep urine from soaking through and soiling the cage itself, that you can tell they're well made, high quality products as soon as you take them out of the box. The pigs can burrow under a fleece pocket on one end of the liner, which leads me to another point: These blankets are not used by my pigs to burrow under! When I used regular fleece blankets, the pigs would tunnel beneath them, push them all over the place, and make a huge poopy mess. Pigs are less likely to burrow thanks to the fleece pocket, the liner's thickness and weight, and the way it fits the cage perfectly and sits flush without gaps. Vacuums tend to pick up debris in the fleece pocket, but it's simple to lift the end of the blanket up and shake or brush debris onto the quilted portion, where it can be easily vacuumed up. If your pigs aren't interested in the pocket, simply fold it inside out so that it sits beneath the waterproof liner and reveals the quilted portion beneath. Because of the quilted liner's weight, you won't have any trouble vacuuming it with a cordless vacuum, making cleanup a breeze. br>br>Smell isn't something you can control. These are non-existent. They're extremely absorbent and wick urine down into the liner. There are no wet spots that I've ever noticed. These would be ideal for older or sickly guinea pigs who require constant dryness. br>br>I have three guinea pigs, housed in two Midwest cages. I have two sets of two GuineaDad liners so that I always have a clean set on hand; rather than waiting for them to be washed, I can just take out the dirty one, pop in a clean one, and do the laundry whenever I want. Every day, multiple times a day, I pick up their poop by hand and clean up food debris with a small broom/dust pan set and a cordless vacuum as needed. The GuineaDad liners are washed and dried once a week in the washing machine. That's all there is to it. No other bedding option has been as simple to maintain, and it's wonderful not to have to pay for disposable bedding on a regular basis. br>br>In terms of drawbacks, I don't like having to wash them in cold water to prevent shrinkage. As you probably know, if daily spot cleanings aren't done, guinea pig bedding can become completely disgusting, and it's natural to want to throw the bedding in the washer with very hot water and a cup full of bleach. It is possible to get stuck with cold water. on bits of boar glue or other mysterious substances left on the blanket after washing, so it's worth thoroughly inspecting and pre-washing the blanket. I'll give it six stars if they ever make a GuineaDad liner that can be washed in hot water and bleach. But, for the most part, washing them in cold water isn't a problem, and they dry just as well on the low setting (though I'm going to start air-drying them). To safeguard my investment, I'm drying mine). br>br>My liners haven't shown any signs of wear after almost a month of use and several washings. If any issues arise, I will update this review. br>br>I am not a shill, and I paid full price for all four of the liners I purchased, so my opinion is completely objective. In the past, I've had a lot of trouble keeping my cages clean and dealing with inadequate bedding options. These liners make it so much easier, and you can tell they were designed by someone who has guinea pigs and understands what we require from our bedding. Seeing how content my pigs are in their clean, dry, and odor-free environment My GuineaDad liners were well worth the money, and the free cage was well worth it.

This is fantastic
5/5

Simply ensure that it is thoroughly cleaned. First - If you've been looking for a fleece to use as bedding and haven't found one yet, look no further. Now is the time to stop. You've discovered the solution to your problem! My cleaning routine is outlined below. br>I have two guinea pigs in a Midwest cage (yes, they will be upgraded soon). It absorbs urine well and never feels wet, in my opinion. I believe it does a good job of controlling odor. It's extremely comfortable and well-fitting. My pigs don't use the fleece pocket, but I've read that it's a hit with them. br>Every day, I shook it out. br>br>KEYS TO KEEPING IT CLEAN: 1. br>br> Cold water is required for washing. I'm not talking about hot water here; I'm talking about ice cold water. It will shrink if you don't do it.
2. I use unscented detergent that isn't scented in any way. There is no softener in the fabric. It really works.
3. Before putting it in the washer, give it a good shake. To remove any fur, loose hay, or stubborn poo, GuineaDad suggests vacuuming it first. I find vacuuming it to be extremely inconvenient (although it may be less so if you have someone else to hold it down), so I use a lint roller instead. I've gone over it a couple of times and it's perfect.
4. It gets washed on its own (or with other fleeces) - I chose 'presoak' to ensure that the fleece absorbs the detergent completely - It spins it really well and comes out dryer because it's on the bulky/sheets setting. I'm sure you could wash it with just about anything, but I prefer not to.
4. This is critical. When heat is applied to the fleece, it begins to lose its shape. So no hot water and a low-heat tumble dryer (no dryer sheets!). This also means that you won't benefit from the disinfecting properties of a hot wash. I believe that using either undiluted white vinegar OR lysol laundry disinfectant is critical. Because you'll be reusing the fleece, you'll want to make sure there aren't any bacteria left on it. If you've ever had to deal with a ringworm outbreak in your home, you'll understand what I'm talking about. br>br>I'm glad I went ahead and bought it. Yes, it is costly initially, but consider how much money you will save on bedding. It's impossible to match.

AMAZING! For Guinea Pig owners, this is a must-have item
5/5

This deserves more than 5 stars because it was delivered the next day, is of good quality, and comes in cute packaging. It comes in a box that converts into a piggy's home. Mine went in right away and hasn't come out since I put it in its cage. The liner is of exceptional quality, and it will undoubtedly last for years, saving me money on bedding and cleaning time while also ensuring that I have a happy, healthy, and comfortable Guinea Pig! It is thick, well-constructed, and absorbent. I've included a video to demonstrate the absorbency of this item. Within seconds of a water puddle forming on top, the water has vanished. You will not be sorry. )br>br>UPDATE: (br>br>UPDATE: (br>br>UPDATE: ( Guinea Pigs like to burrow, and while fleece liners don't allow them to do so, this one does, thanks to the side pocket, and I've noticed that my guinea uses it on occasion. He's been using this area to do both of his business, so the liner has stayed clean and dry! Some Guinea Pig owners might want to consider doing that because it's much easier to clean, requires less washing for the fleece liner, and is less expensive because I filled the litter box with shredded newspaper. My guinea pig didn't need any training to do this. I just threw in some already soiled newspaper for him to smell and go-go-go-go-go-go-go-go-go-go-go- which seemed to work miraculously. Also, set the dryer to low so your liner doesn't shrink too much!.

The stench of urination does not go away! Please forgive me, but does no one else have a nose? I used it for two days before having to remove it and return to bedding because the urine odor was filling the entire room where my two girls' cage is located
3/5

I've washed it twice already in the hopes of removing the urine odor so I can at least use it for floor time, but no luck. I followed the instructions to the letter and even used vinger the first time, but it still smelled. I used tide and a cup of bleach in hot water the second time, and it still smells like urine; I really wanted to like this product as much as everyone else, but I guess I'm too sensitive to odors.
