Questions & Answers
Groom's Hand has been designed to be far more effective than Blukote at treating resistant bacteria and fungus in the equine hoof. It also contains skin-strengthening ingredients that aid in the development of the hoof. Thrush, White Line Disease, Cracks, and Healing Abscesses are among the conditions for which I strongly recommend it.
My farrier suggested this for thrush treatment.
Chloroxylenol is a type of chloroxylenol that is produced allantion
Hmm, that depends on how frequently you use it and how many feet you have! I use it almost every day on four shod feet, only spraying the nail holes to keep the foot dry (since he doesn't have thrush). The can is good for at least a month, if not more. Because my other horse's feet are better, I only spray the nail holes in his shod front feet a couple of times a week, and the can lasts forever in that situation. For the past year, I've been using this product - It comes in handy in Florida's humid weather.

This product appeals to me because of its innovative and practical design. The built-in hoof pick appears to be very basic, but it does a fantastic job. It seems to be particularly effective at scraping off dried-on poo without causing damage to the hoof. And turning it around and spraying instead of reaching for things on the floor saves a lot of time and effort. When I cleaned the central sulcus previously, there was more serious thrush and the frog was a bit mushy with crumbly white bits peeling off - I used it three times a week on average. br>br>When I returned from a trip overseas, my horse had mild thrush. I could smell it as soon as I opened my eyes, but it wasn't too bad. The mild case was resolved in just a couple of applications. Even if you hold the can at all angles, the spray is effective. br>br>On my first can, the trigger had come off and I had to reattach it. There was a lot of blowback when I pressed it, and it turned my thumb blue. I continued to use it, but this time with a plastic glove. Despite this, I went ahead and purchased a second can. In the second can, when I squeeze the trigger, a small blue spot appears right where my thumb is. I contacted the manufacturer, who informed me that the can could be clogged slightly. I still like this product, so if my third can works out, I'll let you know. My cans travel a long way around the world to Asia, where the weather is hot and humid, so they may have endured a more rigorous journey. br>br>Even with the minor inconvenience of having to wear a plastic glove when I use it now, I find the product to be very effective, and I like how it quickly covers a large area with a spritz, so I don't have to hold up my horse's leg for an extra 5 seconds because she's big and leaner.
The genius built-in hoof pick. I like that it's aerosol and that it's purple because it's easy to see where it's been used. Because it isn't as runny as Kopertox, it stays put. BUT. When applying, use gloves. I didn't, and my trigger finger is purple despite the fact that my horse remained motionless. Also, when I did the third foot, the trigger stayed down, and I oversprayed onto my hand, thinking I had stopped spraying and put the foot down. Oh, there's no sound at all. As a result, even the most sensitive horse should be fine. It has a faint odor, not one that is unpleasant, but one that is noticeable. My horse, on the other hand, didn't seem to mind or even notice, despite the fact that he's the type to snort and puff if something smells strange. I've only used this product once since receiving it. I would have given 4 1/2 stars if I could, but I don't have that option on my phone. I don't like my purple finger and haven't worn it long enough to figure out how it works. If it does a good job, I'll upgrade to 5, and I'm going to start wearing gloves.
After the other three types of thrush treatments I tried failed to help my horse, I decided to try this one. br>br>The spray on this product is one of my favorites because it coats evenly and doesn't drip as much. Every time I use it, I seem to spray my hands (see photo) and/or pants, but the color is nice and fades away after a few days and washes. br>br>My horse's feet are extremely difficult, but my farrier has noticed an improvement since I started using this spray. br>br>I also find the bottom-mounted hoof pick to be quite useful. You know, the less stuff you have to carry around with you, the better.
While the plastic hoof pick base of the Groom's Hand Thrush Solution is no match for my Friesian's size 6 rock hard hooves, I find that if you properly clean and dry the hooves, making sure to remove any errant frog tags, especially in the collateral and central sulci/grooves where thrush can start, the spray beautifully targets the specific areas that need protection. There is no runoff, it dries quickly, and you only use a small amount of it, wasting nothing. It appeals to me. I wish they would make a slightly larger aerosol bottle without the hoof pick base available for a lower price. I'm curious to see how long my current purchase will last, as it has been fantastic at keeping my horse's hooves thrush-free throughout this wet winter and early spring!.
I don't have to switch out tools with the hoof pick, which is convenient. The spray feature comes in handy and does not run or drip off the hoof. Wear gloves because some of the overspray will get on your hand/wrist. br>br>I highly recommend this and will repurchase when I run out.
This came highly recommended by our fantastic farrier. Although it took two applications, we had previously tried Thrush Buster, which had failed to eliminate the thrush despite three applications. Grooms Hand doesn't seem to bother them as much as Thrush Buster does, and you get a lot more applications out of each bottle (and it's less messy!). ) People gripe about the built-in hoof pick, which is ridiculous because it's an afterthought; the product is fantastic in and of itself. In any case, I'd rather use my regular hoof pick.
We bought this after a client recommended it for white line disease treatment. We treated it fairly aggressively for at least 3/4 days per week, and the farrier said it had cleared up, but that we should continue to treat it less frequently as a precaution until the opening was completely trimmed off. The spout made it simple to direct; however, the included "hoof pick" isn't very useful.
Although the purple spray is messy and can overspray if not applied with gloves, it is simple to use and even comes with a handy attachment to clean hooves before application.
