This product could be used on a pasture horse, but it would still need to be wrapped and changed on a regular basis. I used hooflex inside the affected shoe area, followed by a small piece of paper bag (to prevent the hooflex from absorbing into the next layer), and finally a newborn diaper with duct tape on top. The duct tape will last for about a day, but it will need to be replaced like any other wrap. It'll take you no more than two days to finish it, and it's fantastic. It was well worth the money and effort.
You're comparing hoof packings, if I understand your question correctly. If that's the case, the xtreme has a higher percentage of turpentine ( 27% vs. 6%) as well as much iodine as well as much as much as much 12% iodine in comparative analysis of iodine in 06% of the regular iodine concentration).

The original version was a nice putty that fit nicely in the hooves. It was extremely difficult to keep this version in the feet because it was so runny. To pack the hoof, I had to use a lot of shavings, and it was extremely sticky and messy. I had a terrible time cleaning it up and getting rid of the unwanted areas. br>br>Having said that, this stuff is a miracle and works perfectly! My horse had been fighting a stubborn abscess for a week, and this helped him get rid of the pain. He was back to normal in less than 12 hours. br>br>He also had a couple of instances of foot soreness in the same foot, but I immediately packed with this stuff and he was good to go the next day with no sign of an abscess. br>br>This is an absolute must-have in my equine medicine cabinet- However, I believe that if I repurchase this, I will return to the original because I prefer the consistency. It's a lot cleaner.
Following a hot nail, I had a three-legged lame mare. After a week of stall rest with no improvement, she was walking better 24 hours after using this with a boot for added support. Significant improvement after only a few days. It's a little messy (wear gloves) and stinky, but it's worth it. When using with a boot, only repacking was required every four hours. 5 days. Without it, every second is 2.
If it comes into contact with your skin, it will cause irritation. Sticky! Works! Apply with a wad of gauze, smoosh it in, and cover with duct tape. Then put on a soaking boot and allow them to walk around for a few days to draw out the heat, soreness, and abscesses. This is fantastic. Even with hot water and dawn, if it gets on your skin, it doesn't come off. However, baby oil will quickly remove it, after which hot water and dawn will be used.
Also, given the cost, it's a good deal.
It's great for removing soreness from a horse's feet.
It's a fantastic product, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for.
Why? Frank.
Good product, but it was a little stiff and put pressure on the horse's feet, so I had to dig it out and replace it with a softer Epson salt poultice.
