I have five tanks: two 55-gallon tanks, an 80-gallon tank, a 5-gallon tank, and a 10-gallon tank, all of which are stocked with tropical freshwater fish that enjoy these flakes. From large to small fish (I can even crush a few in my fingers to make them smaller for the babies), there's something for everyone. This comes in a large 7 oz container that lasts me a long time, and the price is even better here than anywhere else I've looked. It's super simple to just put them in my cart and order when the container's bottom is nearing, and they're delivered to my door by the time it's empty.
Although it appears to be junk food, the fish seem to enjoy it. It would have been nice if it stayed on top for a little longer - I have top feeders who won't eat it once it sinks to the bottom, but I have plenty of bottom eaters to clean up after them. Still, it causes me to overfeed far too frequently, because this is all some of my fish will eat, and if they don't catch it in time, they're out of luck, so I end up putting in a little more - I've also acquired a number of very plump bottom feeders, which is obviously a bad thing to do from a tank cleaning standpoint.
This method works well if you have a large number of fish. The smell of fish food is very strong. Fish have grown in size, are now speaking three languages, and are performing calculus on the side of the fishtank, indicating that they enjoy it.
This is a good all-around fish food that most fish will eat. Adult medium to large fish will eat the flakes. So, for smaller fish, crumble them up a bit, and for fry, crumble them up a lot. Some will sink quickly, while others will float for a while in the water stream or on the surface, where almost any fish can take it in once it has been soaked. br>br>It doesn't cloud the water or leave a mess on the bottom like pellets do. However, if you're trying to get it into areas where the hiders will eat, only feed what your fish eat in 2 or 3 minutes, or no more than 20 minutes. However, you should vacuum up any remaining food, as this can easily clog filter sponges after a few times of overfeeding. br>br>Feeding the same thing every day is also not a good idea. To keep your fish from becoming clogged, feed them a variety of foods. You may have to waste some money on foods your fish don't like until you figure out what they like; however, if you lightly feed multiple types of food each time, you'll begin to notice which foods your individual community tanks prefer and which are left behind.
Tetra food products are always a safe bet. This version does not break down or dissolve quickly enough for the fish to eat it, and it even lasts long enough for my bottom feeders to get to it. Other brands of fish food contained dyes that colored my water and turned my mechanical filter material red, causing my fry to grow out quickly and with vibrant colors. Neither of these things are accomplished by this Tetra-style food. Also, a fantastic price!.
These flakes are simple to prepare (just a pinch) and digested by my freshwater fish. They do have a faint odor, which I believe is beneficial to the fish because it attracts them. I opt for the large size 7. I'll start with the 06 oz size, which is very cost effective, and then transfer them to my smaller 2 oz size. I keep them in a 2 oz container with a slide top so I can easily sprinkle them around the tank. I have a floating foam serving area where I sprinkle the flakes so they don't get all over the place, and the fish know exactly where to go when they see me approaching. The flakes will float as long as the fish do not cause too much commotion (which is unlikely), but they will sink quickly and be sucked into the filtration system. This is why it's critical not to just drop a handful of flakes in and walk away, as the flakes will sink to the bottom or become sucked and trapped inside the filter. I take my time slowly sprinkling, watching them eat, and then sprinkling again within two minutes. I don't have any bottom feeders, so if food sits at the bottom, it rarely gets eaten and ends up as waste, as evidenced by the fact that I have to vacuum up uneaten food and waste at the end of the month. If fed properly, this quantity should last a long time and the tank will not become too dirty and cloudy, or worse, promote algae growth. Overall, I would highly recommend these flakes because they are loved by my fish (which means they must be tasty!). The fish appear to be in good health, are cheerful, and have a variety of colors. We have several large goldfish, a few coreys, and a variety of other fish (I'm not sure what species they are) who all seem to enjoy this food. We tried switching to Wardley once, but the quality was terrible, so we went back to Tetra! This food does not cloud the water and appears to be more digestible for our fish, as the water is noticeably cleaner than it was when we used Wardley's version. When we placed our order, Amazon's price was lower than that of our local stores (Walmart, Petsmart, etc. ). It's even easier to set up on Subscribe and Save (and you'll get better discounts if you use it frequently!).
As a result, I failed to click on all of the photos, including the one with the hand holding the humongous container of fish food. It will take an eternity to use all of this, even with a 40 gallon tank. This is a good thing; it's just that I was surprised to get so much for such a low price; the fish like it, and I have a lot of babies hiding in the rocks, so I like that it sinks quickly. Simply cover your filter intake with a net or a sponge. which, in any case, you ought to have - The fact that it sinks will not be a problem.
