I stored unused pond sticks in a moisture-resistant bag over the winter. If you can close the bag, it will work.
I've only used it for one season (spring-summer). summer- fall: In New Jersey, I stop feeding them around November, then store them for the winter and use them again the following season. The fish appear to be unconcerned about the situation. Simply store them in a location where mice will not be able to access them during the winter.
I've always paid around this amount for the tub size, but you think the smaller bag for $15 might be a better deal? Germany is the country where the product is made. Another answer cites misinformation as the cause of tariffs imposed by China.

Above all, it's a hit with my fish. br>br>Our koi appear to be large and healthy. like a 650 gallon pond full of fantail comet goldfish rocking and rolling peacefully. Over the last 20 years of ponding, we've tried every brand and type of fish food on the market and keep returning to this Tetra floating stick variety. Ours only come to the surface when they see me coming to feed them breakfast every morning when we are feeding them brand/type. br>br>Nearly two decades ago, we began with four very small comet goldfish, which quickly produced approximately 30 offspring. We had plenty of recipients for product testing thanks to the happy couple's continued breeding. Fortunately, we were able to find homes for the excess over time, and three generations later, we were finally able to break up the breeders. We had upwards of 80 people at one time! But they were all beautiful and healthy, so friends with larger ponds gladly adopted them in groups. We put pond fish food brands to the test at every turn. Regardless of the season or the number of relatives in the pond, some they reluctantly accepted and others they dismissed. This is without a doubt their favorite.
(Photo courtesy of Pet Smart. ) You have no choice but to purchase from Amazon because it is HALF PRICE! I adore Pet Smart for a variety of reasons, but they overcharge on this one! PetSmart is far superior to Petco in terms of customer service. You might be wondering what I feed my Koi. It's friken fish pellets, to be precise. I only have my six-year-old daughter to rely on. They are very popular with 18" koi. After eight years, they are all in excellent health. Don't be fooled into thinking that your koi require multiple feedings per day. I've only given them ONE feeding per day for the past 8 years! I've got six 18-year-old children. In a 1200 gallon outdoor pond, there are 20" Koi and about 45 goldfish. I give them about a pound of food each. These pellets should be consumed in 5 cup increments per day. From December to March, the temperature of the water drops below 39 degrees Fahrenheit. I don't feed them anything during that time, and I lose one goldfish every four years or so. There has yet to be a Koi loss. The pellets are fantastic. They float, allowing you to keep an eye on the fish while you're feeding them.
Because they're light and airy, they float and stay afloat for a long time, and our Koi seem to enjoy them. Once one of the fish takes the first bite, they will eat this in a feeding frenzy, which is noticeably better than another fish food we used to use, which our Koi eventually ate but never seemed too excited about. They had to eat at some point, I'm sure. These, on the other hand, are more enjoyable to feed. Because they're light, you'll go through them quickly, but one bag lasts us a few months in the summer, and even longer in the winter when they eat less (as they do in the fall). For a slower digestion, choose a winter variety). The only disadvantage is the packaging. br>br> To open, pour, and re-close the bag, it's a bit clumsy. seal. We prefer to dump into an easy open and close container (as pictured) because I don't want to deal with the Ziploc seal twice a day. As a result, we only use the bag to fill it. Feed by hand or with a scoop, rather than dumping the bag, as it is easy to pour too much. Pouring it is simple enough. But re- Sealing the bag requires some effort and tightness testing, and it gets worse over time as the powder from crumbling fish sticks gets into the seal and causes it to fail to close. I've been wanting to get an air-conditioning unit for a while now. a tight cereal container into which you can dump the larger bag for easier re-use I'm putting the finishing touches on my small container.
(They don't sink, either. )br>br>A few weeks ago, Dorian attacked us. Our pond was flooded as a result of sound side flooding. Because of the stress, we usually do not feed our elderly father while he is in his hurricane shelter "100 gal cooler" for a few days. However, this food arrived just in time before the evacuation order was issued. The main land road in our area had been shut down. So. I threw a few sticks in there to see what the old man would say. After one bite, he began begging like a dog! I was so close to crying. br>br>He eats twice a day and has a clean pond.
My fish enjoyed eating it, and because it floats, it kept the tank and ponds clean. They also thrived. grew to be quite large My only complaint about Tetra Pond Food is that the price has increased. In the last few years, the number of people who have died has increased by fourfold. I'll pay $17 one time. 95 for a 3 pound bag, then re-order When you place an order for it, the price jumps to $36. For the same bag, it costs $53. This forces me to shop all over the internet or switch food manufacturers in order to feed my pond, which is overflowing with large fish. goldfish of a smaller size Tetra Pond Food has been causing me the most problems recently.
That is what matters - However, the price has increased by 100%. These appeal to me (due to the low price and large quantity) and, more importantly, my goldfish and koi. They'll eat almost anything, of course. I only feed my pond pigs every other day or so, usually with flakes but now with these floating sticks as well. I'm not sure if they sink because they cling to them so quickly that they're all gone in a flash. br>br>It appears that I will be purchasing more of these in the near future! So far, I've purchased four bags, one at a time, and plan to purchase more once I'm out. br>br>1 OCTOBER 2020 UPDATE: The Amazon price has increased by over 100%. It appears that I will not be purchasing this item any longer, or that I will seek out alternative sources. br>br>UPDATE: August 23rd, 2021 The price has risen once more, from $28 for the three to $38 for the four. Over $41 for a 7-pound bag.
We've been using this product for ten years, and the koi absolutely adore it. We started with 8 Koi and have grown to 14 over the years. 16 inches long and weighing between 7 and 10 pounds All of this is based on the food and frog eggs left behind by wild frogs. They enjoy eating from the hands of their grandchildren. The fish, not the grandchildren, are fed once a day. )br>Waiting for the other koi to reach their full potential. The fish are extremely healthy and vibrant as a result of this. The fish seem to enjoy it, so it must be tasty.
We give this food to our Grass Carp as a treat because they keep our pond algae-free. They go into a feeding frenzy to get their hands on this food. They are extremely intelligent fish; we have a fish call that they recognize and respond to immediately when they hear it. They also enjoy Tetra Pond's cold water transitioning food, which is suitable for both Fall and Spring water conditions. The food does not, as stated, pollute the pond, which is a significant benefit. These fish put in a lot of effort to keep the pond clean and natural, so this food is well deserved.
